Friday / Weekend Numbers
1 Doctor Strange $16.74M - 81.55%, total $247.60M 2 Bad Guys $1.65M -29.5% , total $61.03M 3 Firestarter $1.54M 4 Sonic $1.03M -31.1%, total $172.18M 5 Everything Everywhere All At Once $918K -4%, total $44.72M 6 The Northman $480K -42.2%, total $29.94M
That's a pretty bad drop for Strange (Morbius dropped -83.3%) and great for Everything. $400M feels out the window. If it follows End Game's multiplier it's weekend will be at $60.56M, $291.4M by the end of the weekend.

Re: Friday Numbers
TLC is on track to drop in the high 30s to low 40s this weekend. Despite it's available on Paramount+, very solid drop. DA2 won't impact it too much and with TG2 (from Paramount) releasing, $100m is guaranteed.

Re: Friday Numbers
Glad to see a big recovery for Everything Everywhere after last weekend. If they keep it off streaming it could play into summer.

Especially bad for Firestarter considering that was Friday the 13th

Wild.

Re: Friday Numbers
Some weekend numbers coming in.
From BOG/BOR:
Doctor Strange $61.0M -67.5% total $291.86M.
The Bad Guys $6.90M -28%, total $66.28M.
EverythingEverywhere $3.3M -6%, total $47.1M
The Lost City $1.73M -37%, total $97.15M.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 $4.55M -24%, total $175.70M.
Firestarter $3.8M NEW
Fantastic Beasts $2.42M -43.2, total $90.05M.
If Dr. Strange finishes with about $382.5M (may be optimistic), it would get to a 2.04 multiplier. That would rank 61st out of 68 movies that Marvel has made across studios. The only movies worse than this are Dark Phoenix (2.01), Elektra (1.91), Punisher: War Zone (1.88), Morbius (1.86), and Inhumans (1.34). Pretty bad company to be in and clear its very divisive with moviegoers.

Re: Friday / Weekend Numbers
EE may reach $60m but $50m is locked.
I'd be surprised if DS2 reaches $400m. On the other hand, TLC will get to $100m before the end of May.

Re: Friday / Weekend Numbers
Would be sad if DS misses $400m. I think how it holds on Memorial Day will be the final way to see if it fails. Needs 2.77 multiplier from this weekend.

Next weekend and the post-Memorial Day weekend being empty (Downton aside) might be enough to get it past the mark. Jurassic World 3 will probably hit it hard, although the weekend after Disney might let Lightyear give it a little bump (along with Fathers Day being that weekend). Not quite ready to make a call yet on whether or not it misses. Regardless, I imagine this is doing better beyond what Disney would have expected for a Doctor Strange sequel.

Re: Friday / Weekend Numbers
In the end - $390-$400m is plenty for a DS sequel. If it swapped release dates with Spiderman NWH - it would look incredible. Right now it looks worse because of that film's epic gross.

Re: Friday / Weekend Numbers
I mean, I still have it on pace for 410 and that was expecting a 66% drop. Friday was it’s only really bad day but the 3.6+ multiplier was very encouraging. I don’t think WOM is really that bad, it basically scored the same as Iron Man 3. We have to understand the hit the economy is hitting right now.

Re: Friday / Weekend Numbers
Doctor Strange raw numbers are great but the opening weekend interest definitely shows the potential was there for more if the film was generating must see WOM. Even if WOM isn't bad, I don't think anyone is telling their friends "OMG, it was so good!" like they were for a lot of other Marvel movies.

It mainly just emphasizes that NWH was an insane outlier

I don't see it missing 400 Million which is a very good gross.

Sonic and Bad Guys late legs will be excellent due to barren market.
