I just hope Uncharted can pull an 80% Rottentomatoes / 70ish metacritic. If it is a solid movie then people will embrace this new franchise. If its bad then we will get the whole "here we go again with the shitty video game movies" vibe for the entire next week and it will probably flop as a result. |

its currently at 41% RT with 4.9/10 avg rating. Does not look like reviews will be good, but holland has the afterglow of spiderman and that could help with walkups. |

Even with poor reviews I think 40 Million is a given. Could have gone much higher if they were good. Maybe American critics will like it more. |

Still see a possible breakout. I remember Sweet Home Alabama came out after Legally Blonde and was massive breaking the OW record for the month. People wanted to see more Reese on film. That was 39% on Rotten Tomatoes. Sherlock Holmes after Iron Man for RDJ. MIB after ID4 for Will Smith. The Man In The Iron Mask for Leo after Titanic. Alice after Avatar doing $1B plus on the 3D hype. Willy Wonka doing $200M+ after POTC for Depp. Not sure what it's performance could look like but with such a massive tally pushing $800M I don't see how there isn't a slight spillover effect from Spidy's record run especially in a barren market. |

Uncharted opened #1 in all 15 markets it opened in this weekend. $21.5M with UK ($6.4M) leading. Hard to tell how that will impact domestic but looks like it's definitely something people want to watch. |

So as a big fan of the games I've been anticipating this one for awhile. Even with the poor reviews. What I did not realize is that most "fans" of the game are against this movie already because Mark Wahlberg does not have a moustache. The internet can be very fickle. My new prediction is $30M. A decent number in these trying times, but so very disappointing that we will not get a surprise break out from this (probably no sequel either.) And it will likely fall apart very quickly. |

Looks like Encanto is getting an expansion this weekend. Would be cool if it got to $100m but idk if it has enough steam for that given the demand is well killed by D+. |

Yeah I can't see it doing that well. What it has in its favor is no kids movies besides Sing 2 out. But what family with kids doesn't have D+? They aren't going to go see it in a theater when they can watch it at home for free. |

5 weeks at #1 on Billboard's song chart. Box office expansion will be interesting to watch as I don't recall an expansion ever like this before of a film becoming a pop culture musical phenom so long after its release. |

Reviews for Dog are really good. Hope it can break double digits. A Dog's Purpose did 18m in 2017. Even on a covid curve, 10m doesn't seem impossible to me for this. |
