Guess Encanto benefited from Spider-Man being full, good drop. |

Yeah WSS would not catch fire anymore. This will also hamper it's Oscar chances. Hopefully they will put it out on streaming soon. |

Despite being one of the most acclaimed Spielberg films by critics it could end up being his biggest bomb. |

Let's not forget that WSS lost all of its large screen formats... |

BOG #SpiderManNoWayHome generated the 2nd biggest opening day #boxoffice of ALL-TIME with eye-popping $121.5M on FRI incl $50M from THU pre-shows edging out $119.1M of #StarWars Force Awakens. Only #AvengersEndgame was ever higher with $157.5M. Opening wknd may fly to about $240M. The fun record now is if its over or under SW to get Dec's top OW ever. 247,966,675 is the level it needs to pass. |

Despite the pandemic, I will say 2021 box office has been the most interesting years since the OW rush of 2001/2002 from Hannibal to Spider-man for me. Yes box office is down overall but OW and runs were getting so predictable. Yes, the MCU is still ruling over all else, but it's almost like we've been observing 80 years of movie box office growth from nothing to pent up rush out in a year and a half. Even with Spidy's OW, the range for where its total will be is anyone's guess? Holiday impact, shutdowns, long term legs from older audiences only maybe seeing it in a few weeks? Could go anywhere from $450 M - $800M+? Global is a whole other ball game. $1B? $1.5B? $2B? Even during the downturn seeing how far we went from Tenet to Shang Chi just one year later was fascinating as a box office observer. Makes me think how different September 2022 will look like. |

Probably not happening but how hilarious would it be if this has long legs and ends up doing 1 billion domestic? LOL I'm gonna reserve total expectations, I think at least reaching Infinity War's total is a good goal. |

This will have long legs as long as theaters aren’t stupid with restrictions. Clearly audiences don’t care. |

Unbelievable number. Opening above SM1/SM3 adjusted is simply remarkable. |

unbelievable for Spiderman. That increase from previews despite opening at 3PM on thursday is crazy. It appears chains other than AMC increased huge. Its going to open close to infinity war and that is nuts in this COVID era. Also there is no doubt Spidey will be the big super spreader event for Omicron. :-( Probably would have sold closed to 70-80m tickets WW in packed multiplexes. We will know in next few weeks. |

I mean it sucks in a way it flopped so bad but after seeing it on Tuesday I personally don't want it to win any big categories at the Oscars. It would be a bit better than Belfast winning though. But neither deserves it. |

That would be better than getting completely slaughtered right out the gate. |

Ouch at Nightmare Alley. I'll see it next week, on Discount Tuesday. Del Toro has proven his movies are worth getting Omicron for. Spidey's number feels shocking and outrageously high yet also completely normal all things considered. |

tree and a half wrote: Barrabás wrote: Lol this is going to make omicron spread like crazy Lol? Can I help you? Also another lol for West Side Story and Spielberg delusionally thinking that the averge Latino in the US (aka Mexican) cares about dated, irrelevant musicals about Puerto Ricans. |
