Even though this isn't surprising, still vastly bad that it may not pass In The Heights. Box office was still re-opening up then with people getting vaccinated and a busier market. Wide open weekend for WSS. A bad year for musicals! |

That's really bad. Didn't even get good IM over weekend. Not sure if it will be as leggy as most of assume, will get lost in the shuffle with a flurry of bigg movies opening in a few days. |

Well, it'll be subject to some large cuts at theaters with all the bigger films coming up now with this poor debut, so I wouldn't bet on a leggy run. Perhaps the marketing was also a problem. Someone mentioned this before, but I don't recall any music being featured in the marketing. I know it's a classic show, but only those already interested in it would probably know. People in the unknown might not have even guessed it was a musical at all. *shrug* |

Somewhat limited by how you need people who can sing/dance, but I'd have tried for a slightly bigger name cast, even with Camila Mendes from Riverdale maybe it plays a bit better with young people |

Well at least Venom returned to the top 10 for the tenth weekend there, had the smallest drop, and is on the verge of beating the original. |
