That's great. The strength of MCU fanbase is unchallenged. |

Marvel is going to claim the Top 5 films of 2021, aren't they? |

May not pass $200m if it opens in the 70s but it'll probably end up grossing more than Shang-Chi WW so it'll be a success. |

It would have been interesting to see Eternals released before pandemic and uncover it's full run while being the first rotten movie from MCU. I don't think it would have made much difference but we'll never know. |

Matrix I could've seen having a huge opening if it wasn't for streaming. Sing 2 should drop like Secret Life of Pets but it'd be nice to see a family film doing around these #s again. Ghostbusters... idk. |

Venom is not even Marvel. It's Sony's Original Spiderman series Spin-off. |

It's Marvel just not MCU. |

Jack Sparrow wrote: It's Marvel just not MCU. That doesn't make sense because MCU also contain the word "Marvel" Jack, can you explain further. |

Venom is a Marvel owned character without a comic book series of its own so any movies, branding belong to Marvel and profits also go to them albeit based on the contracts with Sony in this case. Venom is just not part of Marvel Cinematic Universe...yet but Marvel is the rightful owner of the IP. |

Eternals only got a B in CinemaScore. Not a great sign for its legs. |

That's good enough as long as it didn't drop from original prediction. |

"MCU" refers to movies that all share a single continuity, produced by Marvel studios. Before 2008,w when Marvel was not yet a movie studio, any movie that was based on a comic was licensed, and they generally did not share any relationship with each other, even when it was the same studio. Sony, which has the license to Spider-Man characters, was the last holdout (but not without negotiations.) For the most part, Sony can make Spider-Man characters to their hearts content, but Marvel studios is allowed to use the main Spider-Man character, and any adversaries they think would work. However, the newest Spider-Man movie is exploring the concept a "multi-verse"--that is any non-MCU movie exists, but in alternate timelines. |
