Absolutely awful for King's Man. That's a 1.5m true Wednesday lol

Also apparantly Matrix did less than $7m... ouch.

Stuff will take off Saturday IMO, and then hold well all the way through New years.

Lots of people still at work yesterday and today.

That's a good enough OD that TKM can do 50m total and Matrix 100m total

Max is a big reason but if the reviews were closing Resurrections could have been possible.

This feels like a weird enough time at the box office that it would be funny if Sing 2 comes in and matches the original. :funny:

Definitely could hit 200m if it followed the legs of the first.

Sing 2 will no way do $200m. It's just not remembered well enough plus illumination had lost their clout.

The OD is 26% less, it would hit exactly 200m if it followed the first's legs, so it's definitely possible.

Sing should have a nice run so that's nice, especially it happening to a film that didn't go day and date. Up in the air if Encanto even gets to $100m, it should but may fall off a cliff after being free on Disney+ tomorrow.

Weaker reviews, family films aren't doing as well. Illumination. But I guess you "have" to argue.

The reviews are the same, family films are having great MULTIPLIERS. You’re the one who said “no way will it do 200m” which invites argument if someone disagrees. You could’ve just said “it probably won’t” or “I don’t think it will” but you said “no way”.

Would you like to bet it will not cross $200m with the number? I'm sure it's mathematically possible but it won't and I'll still say it no way gets to $200m. Btw there is a big difference because mine was a prediction as I didn't see the numbers neither were they posted before but I'm up for a bet if you're ready to backup your claims.

I'm not going to bet, I was just responding to O's comment about it maybe matching the original.

This feels like Spider-Man's best weekday yet. But I honestly haven't followed the daily box-office in quite some time, but Wednesday drops used to be much larger. An 11/12% drop from discount Tuesday coming off the second biggest weekend ever seems really impressive.

Was it helped so much from more schools closing?

And not really surprised with The Matrix disappointing. Any real chance it had of posting just "good" numbers was probably erased by the HBO Max release.

I feel like it will be impossible to judge Matrix's success until after New Year's. It's coming out at such a weird time---people are busy with Christmas planning/shopping and worried about Omicron, then this weekend grosses will be weird because of Christmas Eve on a Friday.

Unless theaters shut down Sing 2 should have excellent legs. There's not a single new kids movie out until Turning Red on March 11th.

Much like the original they found out a great release date but I feel with streaming and Encanto going to D+ Sing 2 is not going to enjoy the same run as the original, though it will do well around $150m which is great for the current atmosphere. Plus Spidey will occupy a lot of kids, only the very young will have this as sole option.

You might be right. We will have to see. With so many kids tied up with Spider-Man right now Sing 2 is doing very well so far. Once they've seen Spider-Man once or twice they'll still have Sing 2 that they haven't seen. Spider-Man will cool down eventually and there will be no new competition for kids. So even if they don't see it now they will probably get around to it in the new year. It's definitely a different time for movies than when the first debuted and generally family movie sequels decrease from the original so that will be expected. But it will have long legs and I don't think hitting 200 Million is too out of the realm of possibility. Again that depends if things shut down.

Sing2 OD is 12.5% down from sing1 and audience reception metrics are stronger. I’ll bet the over on 200M if that’s still on the table

Let's do it! Though I am not sure other than bragging rights what else we can bet upon. If it was zwack I had something in mind :P
