This might not going over well here but I think Tenet was a misfire for him and don't know if this is a guaranteed Dunkirk type blockbuster. I could see it do $100M+ but let's see how he does with his first post-WB movie.

This will still do well luckily Excel hasn't gone with $400m domestic.....yet.

I think excels number is about right though I could also see it dropping below $100m as well.

Would rather see this open in the fall. First week of October would be perfect. As is … maybe $30M, unless it goes on Peacock!

A fall release will be good at I'm assuming this will soon for those technical nominations.

I really hope they capture the sense of impending doom that was felt though much of the USA early in the war. It is so difficult to capture it given everyone knows how it ends, but if the USA had any other option - or if they were the only nation developing such weapons - than obvious they would have opted against the use of the nukes which is now widely condemned. They probably saved 500k more lives than the nukes killed by using them.

So much cinematic potential still untapped w/ the US roll in WW2. The Manhattan Project and a (real) movie about Pearl Harbor could be big critical and commercial hits if well done. Nolan is basically tackling subject #1.

I don't think we will see another Pearl Harbor movie for at least 20-30 years because the selling point is the attack itself, and the Michael Bay version of that (not the awful romance plot surrounding it but just the attack sequence) is impossible to top, it's just perfect.

I hope Hans Zimmer is composing Oppenheimer. He elevates a film with his score. I believe a soundtrack can factor into a movie’s boxoffice ceiling.

Yeah this is a stacked cast. Feel its better chances than The Last Duel which had a strong cast and director and flopped. Should be good for $200M now.

Whoa this is stacked for sure. There has to be some sort of action in it to justify the summer date?

Maybe if they announce this will include live action depictions of Pearl Harbor, Midway, and D-Day.

Studio description.

Quote:
The film is described as an “epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the heart-pounding paradox of an enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it”.

Nolan looks like quite the forgiver - Josh Hartnett famously turned him down for BATMAN BEGINS but Nolan has now cast him in this.
