From BOG 15 minutes ago:

Source tells me that #NoTimeToDie finished in the neighborhood of roughly $23M for its North American opening day #boxoffice. CinemaScore grade for new #JamesBond is A-. Official numbers coming shortly...

With $23m it did less than $17m on Friday. That's definitely not a very encouraging number. It still has holiday Monday so let's hope it gets better over the next two days with good WoM.

Post Re: BOND weekend
Still seems good to me. Being disappointed by, let's say $60 million, shortly after the box office has even begun to recover back to some normalcy is a bit unfounded. It's still quite good considering, again, that the box office isn't quite back yet, and a portion of Bond's fans (presuming they're older) are likely still a bit weary of going to theaters.

Initial presales just rose expectations too high, too early, especially after Venom's opening weekend surprise. Marvel has long since set itself above the rest of the box office (too big to fail), so the standard for them isn't exactly the same as everything else anymore either, and probably shouldn't be used for comparisons or to set expectations.

Not good. The marketing for this was extremely aggressive. Bad taste from specter and log wait definitely affected this.

The next Bond will need significant appeal to the younger crowd. Cavill may be the best financial bet?

It's a great opening of you keep things in perspective. Also it's doing great in OS markets so I don't see why they need to worry about finance.

Deadline is predicting $56 million.

Box Office Report predicts $89.5 million international gross this weekend though, which seems great.

Good opening for Bond. This was the original range and it came out at higher end of $51m-55m range

All things considered the opening is fine. Hope legs are decent, maybe the audience will be more spread out. Overseas #s are great at least.

Definitely a disappointing opening. Not terrible but pretty underwhelming. Studios might start to worry a bit about older skewing properties and will maybe shift some. That demo is harder to get back into theaters.

Anyway hopefully legs are great. I think they'll be solid.

Lamb did pretty well for a specialty release in this climate.

I read that Bond needs to do $800M+ globally to break even. :er:

Let's see how close it gets there!

Not surprised, the cost for these things has ballooned out of control, the last one also had a budget in the $250m-$300m range. And they basically had to do two full marketing campaigns because the initial date got postponed at the last minute.

I honestly could see this being the beginning of the end of the Bond franchise. They will obviously cast someone else and make a couple more films but I don't know if audiences will care anymore. I don't think it will be easy to get someone that can live up to Daniel Craig.

Good number and I don't think it will reach $150m total in States with that opening.

I don't see why it misses a 3X multiple, Spectre almost got one and that had much worse WOM

Deadline reporting $6.94 million for Monday, higher than the $5-6 million predicted. It was Indigenous People's Day yesterday so I think some schools (not Bond's strong market) and maybe government workers had off, but a good amount didn't.

Estimated for $5.2 million today.
