This weekend, Shang Chi may become the first film to do $20M+ over its first three weekends since SW Ep. 9 in Jan. 2020. It should be able to get there.

As expected Copshop flopped very surprising that Cry Macho didn't do well though the trailers and title were weird and the movie itself isn't great.

And available on HBO Max, to an audience that would much rather watch the movie at home.

Weekend numbers from BOG/BOR Twitter

Shang Chi $21.7M -38%. $176.9M total
Free Guy $5.20M -7%, total $108.58M
Cry Macho $4.5 M
Candyman $3.50M, total $53.17M.
Malignant $2.68M, total $9.80M.
Copshop $2.31M
Jungle Cruise $2.09M -10%, total $112.58M
PAW Patrol $1.75M, total $37.14M.

The Eyes of Tammy Faye $675K
Don't Breathe 2 $665K, $31.34M total
The Card Counter $440K, $1.91M total
Show Me the Father $365K, total $1.38M
Blue Bayou $315K

$225 M looks assured since Shang Chi just needs a 3.21 weekend multiplier from here on out. $250M would require a 4.37 multiplier. Not impossible but depends quite a bit on the impact of all the blockbusters in October.

Amazing for Free Guy and Jungle Cruise.

Those holds for SC, FM and JC are just amazing. Disney is about to start get rich again even during pandemic.

Post Re: Friday numbers
Given we had 8 movies do $350M+ in 2019 pre-pandemic, and Shang Chi looks to do $230M in the middle of it, feel like it could definitely have pulled at least a Captain Marvel like run in normal times given so many aren't going to theaters ($425 - 450M).

It needs $261M to match Black Panther's multiplier. Not that far off of where it looks to finish.

Malignant had a decent drop for WB's day and date standards. Think it could've done well normally.
