Thursday Previews
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent- 835k
No breakout but it should be good for 10m with that.

Re: Thursday Previews
$1.35m for The Northman and $1.15 for Bad Guys. Seems fine. I'm interested to see how Northman holds, feel like the casual moviegoer may not be crazy for it.

Re: Thursday Previews
Encanto did 1.5m on a Tuesday preview leading to a 7.5m OD. I'd think this would be less front loaded being on a Thursday rather than Discount Tuesday before Thanksgiving break. So it could do mid 20s. But 30m seems like a stretch for Bad Guys.
The Northman number is good and guarantees 15m and 20-25m is definitely in the cards.

Re: Thursday Previews
Though Bad Guys is below Boss Baby 2 so if it follows the trajectory of that, it will do very poorly.
Bad Guys probably could've done better moving to May. Too soon after Sonic. But even then a heavily marketed Dreamwork toon should be opening to 25m plus

Re: Thursday Previews
It's because The Bad Guys looked bad. Would be doing better if it looked good. Reviews will help though and no competition for ages will give it great legs. It will have a solid total.

Re: Thursday Previews
Boss Baby may be "lame" but it had an advantage of opening pre-Covid. The Bad Guys doesn't have that going for it. As you have suggested, Boss Baby 2 is a better comparison than Boss Baby 1. Because Boss Baby 2 only had a $16 million by the end of its first weekend (July 4, 2021), The Bad Guys will have an opening weekend under $20 million.

Re: Thursday Previews
Mmm Bad Guys not doing big #s makes sense. It doesn't look as appealing for children than other animated films imo

Re: Thursday Previews
Boss Baby 2 was available for free on Peacock which hurt its box office. Probably could've done 25m+ easily without it.
Croods 2 did 15m in 4 days with Regal and NY/LA closed and open theaters at 50% capacity or less. To not do significantly better than that is terrible.

Well those looked better because I saw Trolls and Boss Baby 2 in the theater . Even when something doesn't appeal to me it's not that hard to tell what would be appealing to audiences. Those looked like they would do well. They didn't look cheap. Regardless I think The Bad Guys will go over 20 Million this weekend which is a great start for it. Might actually be #1.
