Re: Friday Estimates
A bit of a breakout hit for Space Jam, guess it really connected with families.

Re: Friday Estimates
SJ did fine. It will crash and burn very quick though. I don’t expect a total above 75m. In regular times it probably would have been a 45m/100m type performance.
BW hopes for 200m are officially dead.

Re: Friday Estimates
Even with a Saturday decrease Space Jam should win the weekend with $30m. Good #.

Re: Friday Estimates
3.8m for Escape Room. Considering the budget for it that's fine. They'll probably make another one.
F9 got its first good drop lol

Re: Friday Estimates
Friday was officially the first day Toronto theaters were opened so we now have North America's 3rd biggest film market open! Wonder if that helps weekend holds but promising to have Canada opening up.
That's great for Space Jam. It covered almost every demographic so had a lot going for it. Considering it was free on HBO Max, if it was theater exclusive could have done quite a bit higher.

Re: Friday Estimates
Not bad at all, and it should have a strong IM due to not having any previews. Starting Monday the movie will begin to collapse, but this should be good enough to get a third entry, either with LeBron or maybe in a few years with Luka Doncic or Trae Young.

Re: Friday Estimates
I think they're done in basketball. I'd rather they go to Football with Rodgers, Payton or Brady.
Or if they really wanted to break ground. Do an animated Olympics with a shit ton of different teams (Disney classics, Anime, Evil characters, Princesses, Lego, etc)

Re: Friday Estimates
Completely forgot that the original Space Jam was one of the top 20 best selling soundtrack albums of all time. Movie songs seemed so much more notable in the 90s. 6X platinum with 4 some iconic songs:
1) I Believe I Can Fly (R. Kelly) 2) For You I Will (Monica) 3) Fly Like An Eagle (Seal) 4) Space Jam (Quad City DJ's)
Other than The Greatest Showman, feel like its been a long time since a soundtrack broke out at the level they used to. I'm sure there are some I missed!
