Good reviews will help, but enough? I think what is hurting it most of all is that the first one very much advertised itself as DC GUARDIANS with that obnoxious Bohemian Rhapsody trailer. Then the movie was … nothing at all like GotG. So now they’re like “but we actually got James Gunn and good reviews this time!!!” and people are still like Meh - heard that one before. |

Well it should at least open higher than Birds of Prey. Probably needs to hit $40m to do $100m total. This definitely shouldn't have been a HBO Max title but oh well. This has August wide open so under $100m would be sad. I think pre-pandemic these reviews would've pointed towards a 60m+ opening. |

I think it will open around 50m and finish around 130m. Well below 1st movie considering HBO Max release, its not bad at all. |

I still do not see why this will open above BoP maybe s number around the same mark. The cast this time isn't highlighted as last time plus the trailers are good just not great as they don't justify its existence. Is this a reboot? sequel? same universe? what villains are new the only one I can distinguish is that shark head and Harley who has been oversaturated at this point. Some of these could result in initial curiosity but it could potentially push people to streaming as well. |

I guess we can use this thread for next weekend preditions as this is the only wide release. Still puzzled about how this does. The movie is a crowd pleaser and I imagine WoM will be great. Had the buzz been that the movie was ok at best then this would open below Birds of Prey. As of now I think the range of opening is $36-50m. Gonna go with $42m for now with hopefully solid legs to $100m+. |

I think it'll still disappoint. Didn't put much attention into how it's doing presales wise so I'm just talking about gut feeling, but I just feel like the negative stigma surrounding suicide squad as a brand is too much to overcome at this point. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised if the movie really is good, anyways. |

Even with reviews I don't think this will do big numbers though the market is starved for a breakout and last SS did insanely well but again it was marketed better than this one and had even better conditions. This does not have the just see clout about it but I guess with reviews it can still match what other big WB movies are doing. I'm still going with less. $25m OW |

Tracking over at BOT is suggesting an opening at high 20s. Uhhh I'm gonna go with 35m right now. This opening below Jungle Cruise sounds crazy but it may happen. As for Jungle Cruise maybe a 48% drop, 18.2m 2nd weekend. |

I know its impossible but what if Jungle Cruise has a great drop and ends up being #1 over the OW of TSS that would be something....Excel will die both of happiness and disappointment  This was a weird project to begin with and remember BoP had great reviews as well (it was above 80% mark at RT before its release) and that was before pandemic. |

Eh I don't think Delta is that much of a factor, Jungle Cruise doing 35m shows that. I think it's the fact it'll be "free" on HBO Max that's more of a problem. |

Delta is a factor in places like NY/LA to an extent where people are concerned but not enough to make a film bomb that would've otherwise done well. |

Deadline has projections at 30m. I think not beating Space Jam is bad. Between Space Jam and Birds of Prey is not awful but eh. Over Birds of Prey would look fine. Over 40m would be decent. |
