Black Widow Monday - $7.16m, -59% drop

Seems like a good #, will hit $100m on Wednesday.

Yeah that's a great Monday. Reminds me of pre-pandemic regular summer weekdays where drops were in high 50's instead of high 60's on first Monday.

I would not say its great. Tuesday bumps are not there now. Its gross by thursday will be 5.xx and I cant see friday increase > mid 50ish increase on friday. Space Jam will win the weekend based on what I see.

Space Jam getting #1 next weekend should not be the barmoeter for BW's success.

I agree. Problem for BW is its previews were high but its weekend was highly frontloaded. Depending on how the weekdays go, I wont be surprised by 65% drop. if the family crowd avoids theaters and go PA route, then its saturday's will continue to be mediocre.

I went opening weekend to the original Space Jam. I was in college at the time. I have zero interest in this new one. I think BW wins the weekend with Lebron pulling 20-25M.

I didn't see the original till end of last decade but I'm in the same boat, not super excited to rush to see it in theaters.

It's good to see the Disney is reporting these numbers. BW should get to $100m theatrically in domestic market by tomorrow that's 6 days in comparison to F9's 8 days (without streaming).

I am thinking around 5.25m wednesday if MTC ratio of Mon/Wed work. I am confident Space Jam is winning the weekend. BW is looking at around 27m 2nd weekend. Space Jam should clear that I think. Still it will make the weekend interesting if its close.

Given that you mentioned the increase in PS for Space Jam it has a good chance to be #1 but I feel it will be frontloaded and PS-heavy so it will come down to actuals. Regardless interesting weekend and one that feels like eternity when we are discussing the possiblity of a close #1 race

Another good hold, I really think BW will hold on to it's #1 ranking this weekend.

At AMC BW dropped 12% from yesterday. Let us hope overall drop is better. Even with 60% increase tomorrow SJ2 should have no problems winning friday. Its filling up fast(overall 20%+ of seats filled at AMC/Cinemark). I feel walkups should also be good as well. As I posted earlier, we are in for a close weeknd. Ontario Canada is reopening tomorrow helping BW as Ontario is 40% of canadian BO.
