Yikes at New Mutants, and that's with a theater increase.

No #s at all for Tenet is disappointing, hopefully they're not terrible.

Too early to tell. But I know some of us are expecting longer runs, could there be an opposite effect where people only give a movie a shot the weekend a film opens? I mean for now with a few movies, maybe, but I think people in general know that movies in theaters a while are sent to less sanitary auditoriums in even a good theater. I wouldn’t be surprised if holdovers might be nonexistent.

Though of course that could just be New Mutants is a shit film, and people are more careful going out these days. Considering how bad the weekends have been compared to Friday, that 75% drop might get even worse

5 minutes into the previews for the 7pm show on the PLF screen, 6 tickets for Tenet had been sold last night. The 2 shows on the same screen today, 330 and 7pm, have a total of 18 tickets sold. Hopefully this is an outlier theater.

WB already said they weren't going to release until Sunday. So, while they probably will be terrible (as will everything for the next year or two), the lack of reporting today should not cause any further panic.

New Mutants is reason to panic though. -75% when there is a nothing else to see is not a good sign going forward. Disney will have to be content with filling a pool with all the money they make from Mulan this weekend and then taking a swim in it.

I wouldn't worry about waiting till Sunday. It's all about expectation setting and so they are grouping all of Canada's tally in tomorrow too. Makes sense on their part if you have a $200 M movie.

Oh dear, so much for "films will naturally leg out as people won't rush on OW like they used to"

I think Thegun's point might have a merit. These are difficult times financially, a trip to theater might be too expensive. I'm not sure but aren't there riots in many states now? Movies might not leg out as we thought they would. We will have to wait and watch.

That's a big drop for the New Mutants. With the pandemic and a recession going on, it seems people are not interested in going to the movies.
