Box office is back bay bay! Obviously nobody knows what the hell is going to happen in the weeks to come. Is Unhinged making about the same as it would have otherwise in 30% capacity a good sign of things to come or is that going to be closer to the market cap? With a normal release in 3500 theaters in the last weekend of August I'd give New Mutants around $20M. With about 2000 as the first big movie opening in the midst of a pandemic ... let's go with half. $10M even for New Mutants. Unhinged will drop about 25% to $3M. |

Pretty surreal. Not only is box office "back" but we're finally getting fucking New Mutants. Well in most states. Really hope the Cali drive-ins get it this weekend cause I'm going. I'm gonna go with double Unhinged, 8m. |

Is Tenet not releasing this week in states? New Mutants should do $15m. Unhinged - $2m (I don't see it having a good hold when there is a new hot movie) |

What a weird time it is that the first week of September weekend may be the most exciting of the year film was. This weekend is usually a dumping ground in a normal year. |

I think it's definitely doing double digits. Going with 12 Million. |

Low double digits sounds about right for New Mutants, but I have no idea about the other two. I haven't seen a whole lot of marketing for Bill & Ted nor David Copperfield. |

I'm surprised over 1,000 theaters will show Bill & Ted. I thought many had rules against showing VOD movies. Neither of my theaters got it this weekend. I guess other theaters decided to be more lenient in regards to that rule. I wish mine would. Not necessarily for Bill & Ted but for other movies I'm interested in. |

Yeah, I'm surprised it can get that many theaters to show the movie. The Irishman only got to 600+ theaters if I remember correctly. I believe these 1,000+ theaters are mostly of non-major chains. |

At this point the theaters cannot be picky. They better keep showing movies so that the crowd among them knows that theaters are operational and its safe to eventually go to theaters. |

Bill and Ted 3 was most excellent. It will please the fans. I think it would have opened to around $25-35M, but burnt out quickly. |
