My guess is that WB will move TENET to WW84's slot, WW84 will move to Christmas (AQUAMAN worked just fine for WB/DC during Christmas) and DUNE will move to 2021...

I'm voting 2021. Maybe in March or something. I expect states like Cali to beat this in a few months, but the media will keep the fear porn going until November for the election and then it will die. So I think something will open at Christmas. But something like Mulan makes more sense there

When the government does not have a plan, the virus is running the table. People gotta feel safe to go to the movies again. Infections, hospitalizations and deaths will have to fall to an acceptably low level to instill that kind of confidence. If I were the boss, I'd prefer a day and date theatrical and VOD release in October. It is an uneducated decision since I don't have inside information about how their business model works.

I think it still releases in August, completely bombs since nobody wants to sit in a potentially polluted movie theater wearing a mask for two hours, and then the release schedule empties until next year. WB can say they tried, then do the $20 rental thing in October.

With Trump ordering hospitals to send data directly to him instead of the CDC, we will probably reach the point where there are zero new cases a day in mid August. No need to move movies anymore. Just gotta pretend that covid isn’t real.

It's being heavily marketed here as August 13th release so I'm very hopeful that it will get released here by then. It's less than a month now and since the theaters started this Monday we have not had any incident from them. Peninsula was the first major movie released here yesterday and the evening shows were selling out with max capacity of 50 people.

It will open in Summer 2021 to reduced-capacity theatres like every other Hwood blockbuster. I would tell Nolan to go fuck himself and sell it to Netflix and release it early August. If he's not making another Batman then Nolan is of no commercial use to WB anyway. Tenet looks so drab and incomprehensible that it's clear he's reached his The Village stage. His next film will probably be his Lady in the Water so better to jump ship now.

Since this is obviously not opening in US theaters until 2021 I can't see them releasing it anywhere else as scheduled. They're not going to risk piracy.

The Marcus theater chain around me is playing older movies for $5, the Iron Man showing today that starts in 35 minutes has 6 tickets sold. They have 24 locations in Wisconsin, but only 4 are open on the weekend and Tuesdays. I can't see them keeping the theaters open with cases spiking again, unless it gets much better fast. I'm not confident any big movies will go to theaters the rest of 2020. I would guess summer 2021, when there is hopefully a vaccine.

I tried to cancel my AMC A-List today and they sent me an email saying they weren’t going reactivate it until October anyways. So that’s where theater heads are at right now. August will be cleaned out by the end of the week.

Yeah barring another closure overseas this could have a very very leggy run. Idk if I'm comfortable to go back to the theater so I'll probably try drive through first and maybe catch it again later in an empty theater.

I would assume they were holding off because once it's released internationally, it'll be online for free for most people in the states with a clue. If they can't make that date again come mid August, I wonder if that will be them giving up and go Direct to Stream.
