Birds of Prey - 33.25

I have no idea how holds will be. Shazam like holds (which dropped off because of Endgame after weekend 3) would take this to 86m total. I hope next weekend is good (Valentine's and 4-day weekend) and this hits 100m.

If V-Day is good WB can probably push it to $100.1M. If not then Dark Phoenix and Fantastic Four have somebody new to hang out with.

Better than what the Friday number was leading to. But man, so disappointing. Hope it can drop 40% or less next weekend.

Er, for it to finish sub-70m it'd have to make slim pickings after next weekend. At least this has decent reviews and reception isn't bad for those seeing it.

100m total would be less embarassing so here's hoping.

Saturday was 12.2, 35% increase from true Friday. Solid increase but too bad the #s weren't higher. They're estimsting a 35% Sundsy drop which sounds reasonable, not sure if it'll do any better with it being Oscar night.

Jumanji, 1917 and Doolittle all had sub-15% drops. Wow.

The Suicide Squad is bombing. And lol at the title.

It will be coming right on the heels of Batman. It will be fine.

I don't think Suicide Squad will bomb. The comic book audience who skipped this because of... reasons will probably show up. And the Gunn factor will help. Will be interested to see how the trailer is.

Audience score at RT is already down to 83%. Critics now 80%.

Very disappointing opening. I wonder how much it better it would have fared had it been rated PG-13.

The Suicide Squad is an odd one.

I guess it will be akin to The Incredible Hulk opening 5 years after Hulk. It should do well enough if good but not outperform the first one.

Sounds about right to me, although I still think that movies performance will rely heavily on good reviews and great marketing. Warner Bros needs to seriously get their shit together and not mess this up like they did with Shazam and BOP.

Now 81% audience; headed for 70s, probably below 75% eventually. Reception doesn’t appear that good. I guess the hope has to be that it’s just a minority, and doesn’t reflect a broader lack of enthusiasm.

Well hopefully more women show up this weekend.

It will probably be pretty well-received with James Gunn behind it. Much better than the first was. So yeah it won't bomb.
