Re: Weekend Estimates - Hope Is Dead
1) https://m.the-numbers.com/weekend-box-office-chart - we don’t like BOM anymore 2) What a strangely awful weekend for this time of year. 3) 1917 had a 50k PTA in 11 theaters. That shiz is gonna break out in a few weeks.

Re: Weekend Estimates - Hope Is Dead
Whole lot of really lazy/dumb analysis by the likes of Deadline, Hollywood Reporter, and Forbes. Projecting a domestic total above $600M. Morons do not understand how the holiday boost works and they keep making foolish comparisons to Last Jedi, which had a deflated 2nd weekend due to Christmas Eve on Sunday and then received its holiday boost later in the run compared to Skywalker.

Re: Weekend Estimates - Hope Is Dead
Very mediocre second weekend for TROS, but at least it did recover somewhat after how dismal those early numbers were looking. However, It still looks like $500M is going to be touch and go depending on how it holds after the holidays which just isn't good at all IMO. The clear winners of this weekend are easily Jumanji, KO and Frozen. Hell even LW and UG did really respectable business even if their numbers aren't very big. Both are on their way to being very profitable, although I don't think the same can be said about SID which definitely landed with a thud.

Uncut Gems is a major win for A24. Legs may be weak to beat Lady Bird for its top grossing film but its budget was probably small.
Jumanji actually has a shot at 300m if it keeps holding well.
Skywalker needs around 140m each for domestic and overseas to reach a billion. Shouldn't have too much trouble getting there but the rest of its run will be interesting to watch.

Re: Weekend Estimates - Hope Is Dead
Using TLJ's legs from this weekend finish would be around 503m.

A panned flop!
Amazing for Little Women on the other hand! Are period dramas going to make a comeback the way murder mysteries have? Between this and Jumanji this could be a weekend from the 90s.
Good start for 1917, I hope it manages to find a large audience after the Oscar nominations. WW1 deserves a definitive film for today’s audience.

I wonder if Frozen can pull an upset over TROS and will Disney allow that to happen.

I'm excited for 1917's run. It looks like it will expand well. It has been a superb year for successful adult dramas quality and BO wise.
