 $200-299m films of 2017 (edit: 2020)
seems like film ending in this range is becoming less common the last couple of years.
2013 - 9 2014 - 10 2015 - 4 2016 - 4 (well, about to be with Sing)
So how many will we have this year?
Potential films this year that'll probably end this range: Transformers 5 Thor: Ragnorok Wonder Woman Lego Batman Coco Logan Dunkirk

Add Despicable Me and Fate of the Furious. Dunkirk and Transformers are not doing 200. Lego Batman will do 300.

Do you think Pirates will do more or less?

Less certainly. Maybe sub 150. Hopefully not though. I love Pirates.

Transformers - barely King Kong - squarely Coco
Dark Tower Pirates - barely Thor 3

 Re: $200-299m films of 2017
So...
2017 - 5 2018 - 8 (7 of these grossed less than 221m) 2019 - 1 (only It Chapter 2, Jumanji will hit 300m)
Pretty interesting.
It seems like Bad Boys is getting to 200m, which is pretty damn impressive.
The 250-300m range seems pretty rare these days. This was the HP and Twilight range and we haven't really gotten franchises like that with superheroes dominating box office.
Seems like the Pixar films may end up in this range.

I think we'll have a fair few this year.
Bad Boys already there.
Strong Candidates:
Onward Black Widow Soul Minions 2 Tenet No Time to Die Mulan Fast and Furious 9 Eternals Jungle Cruise Venom 2

Only Wonder Woman would be a disappointment to not reach 300m. I really think Black Widow will do well over 300m, but a little less wouldn't be too bad.

Don't see Tenet over 200m rn. Venom 2 I see decreasing. Minions 2 could go either way. Jungle Cruise is a wildcard. Mulan, BW and Eternals will do 300m+.

I don’t think NTTD, Jungle Cruise, or Venom 2 will get to $200m. And actually NONE of these I feel are a guarantee to hit $200m (Pixars being the best bet).

I don’t think all of them will make it either but they are the best candidates at this stage.
Have no idea about how Dune will perform. Could go either way,

Passengers did 100m with a Star Wars movie to compete against. I'd say sub 150m for Dune with like no competition would be awful considering the talent involved.
