All these release dates will move again. Movie sets require hundreds of people on them at a time and that may not be feasible until Summer 2021.

Don't be surprised if by then most theatre chains have also gone bankrupt.

It's a brave new world.

Christmas 2021 opens up and WB sits with their thumb up their ass while Sony takes the date with Spider-man.

After so many years, enough. Sell DC property film rights to someone who gives a shit, WB. This is ridiculous. You guys are fucking clueless.
They should want to position the film to maximum dollars. So much rides on the financial performance of these movies - poor release strategy is totally inexcusable. We saw how poorly chosen release dates dramatically affected the box office Batman Begins, Superman Returns, Man of Steel, and Justice League. We saw how drastically things quickly changed - for the worse - when Man of Steel "underperformed" in the awful release date it was given. To think we almost did not receive THE DARK KNIGHT because Batman Begins was a disappointment, obvious to the fact that sandwiching it between Mr. and Mrs. Smith and War of The World hurt it severely.

I won't make excuses for wanting these films to make maximum dollars and expecting the studios to show competent ability to position the film to do so. Disney has had no issue doing it with their Marvel films, it is simply inexcusable and unacceptable for WB to not do the same.

And to anyone who may say "BUTBUTBUTBUTBUT Joker just made $1 billion in that spot!"

And? The Batman is 2021's most talked about movie by a mile. Claiming the 12/17 release date basically cements it as the biggest hit of 2021 domestically and very likely globally too. Opening it on October 1 is a ridiculous limitation of its huge potential.

I've followed these long enough. I don't know why WB even bothers with this shit if they're not interested in making maximum dollars.

I think the real question is do we need another high budget version of Batman with a hot guy in the lead, a cool car, all the gadgets and big explosions? Why not make an actual gritty (not Nolan gritty), arthouse, mid budget version of him ala Joker. I bet it would be much more interesting than whatever Matt Reeves (a competent but not genius director) will give us.

Too much? Has Christian Bale been the biggest draw in the world since 2008? Weren't you claiming few posts above that WB should just give up and that they will never make fortune because of that weak release date?

Reeves can direct the movie for Disney. WB still need to move this to Christmas so it is an epic all time blow up. October 1st WTF :grrr:

Bale didn't have a preexisting fanbase like Patts does.

Don't agree on that. The Twilight crowd has never been with Pattinson as observed from his recent very good quality movies and their BO. This also does not mean the same crowd will "not" come to see this movie but he will definitely not "become" the biggest draw with just Batman movies.

I do think Reeves vs Nolan will be another big issue here. Plus if you remember BB even with Nolan opened to $49m.

Trailer is fucking awesome. Battinson is good and action scenes are intense. I hope Reeves takes his time and release it in spring 2022 in a post vaccinated world.

IDK about 2022 but they should absolutely move this to Christmas 2021.

This is quite obviously the most anticipated film currently on the release schedule and would make absolutely insane money over the holiday period.

I’ve been very skeptical about this movie but that trailer was awesome.

Does the release date even really matter? We’re probably still going to be dealing with covid lolz. This probably would have been a $200M opener otherwise, possibly challenging Last Jedi for 4th all time.

Good reviews and this probably opens to $250m. If that happens over Christmas period, it will challenge $800m domestic.

Looks all right. Tough trailer to judge by with only 30% filmed so far. Really don't like the look the suit though. Looks more like those parodies of Bale's from a few years ago. Can't say DC's fan dome really delivered overall except maybe on SS (I can't really get excited about ZSJL, especially for his typical flair for bizarre trailers). WW was the weakest trailer by far. The Batfleck and Keaton's return definitely stole this film's excitement level for me.

This is going to be pretty bizarre. First Justice League will come out in mid 2021. Kind of a weird situation as if it's good everyone will be like "WTF why isn't Affleck in the role" and if it's equally bad the release date of a new Batman film in the same year as JL could turn out to be a negative factor.

Then we have Affleck and Michael fucking Keaton returning to the role the following year in the same movie. Kind of strange that this is the new Batman movie and it's like the third most interesting Batman story of the weekend.

That trailer looks AMAZING and honestly I think it's one of the best comic-book/superhero movie trailers since that second trailer for TDK over a decade ago. If everything goes back to normal next year I can see this being HUGE regardless of the October release date which I still think is perfect.
