Take it with a pinch of salt, but Sly just announced that Creed II will be Rocky's final appearance. He's said this type of thing many times before, but let's just entertain the notion that a third Creed doesn't have Rocky. What are the likely box office prospects?
I'd say it goes down. Rocky is an obvious draw for many, many fans, and though fans have warmed to the Adonis character, he's no Rocky, and he's less interesting without Rocky as his support. Might even struggle to do $100m. Though, I must say, even the marketing for Creed II showed Rocky a lot less. Felt very much like a passing of the torch campaign. Sly did not even do any press for the film as he's filming Rambo V.
