Ooh, The Grudge didn't drop all that much from the estimates. It didn't do 40, but that's a phenomenal number. Already a success after only 2 days, and within a day or two, it's marketing costs will be back too. The Grudge is definitely one of the bigger profits of the year, considering its low budget and huge box office take. :D

The grudge is definitely one of the biggest surprises of the year, maybe even more so than the notebook.

excellent weekend for the Grudge even if overestimate a tad bit, what are the chances of reaching $100M??

If it does not reach $100M it will overtake Alien v Predator as the highest opening weekend not to hit $100M.

It seems like every year we threaten that dubious distinction, Red Dragon, Freddy v Jason, Alien v Predator, CITH (very close), CA2 (very close too)., Scorpion King, etc. since 2000 with Scream 3.
