Post Saturday Numbers for the new releases
Since it probably won't be seen in the other thread:

Here are the Saturday numbers posted at HSX (from dougny, who posted accurate Friday ones yesterday):

Kingdom of Heaven 7.25
House of Wax 4.6
Crash 3.68

That's so very bad for both Kingdom of Heaven and House of Wax. I mean, Kingdom of Heaven is *flat* with Friday. $20M is out of reach this weekend.

Yeah, considering that Kingdom of Heaven costs almost $30-40 million more than xXx: State of the Union, both movies did equally bad.

Episode III, hurry the hell up.

This is not the apocolypse, its just a bad streak at the box office, things are taking a little longer to kick in but you can bet that as a result a lot of the summer movies, the episode which everyone wont STFU about included, will do better than normal numbers. Which is why im saying Madagascar should be safe for $200m+, and War of the Worlds is nearly a lock for that too. Mr and Mrs Smith is looking at $170m and that Star Wars thing is headed for $350m+

I agree that the slow summer start will help all the movies coming up.

But, I don't think Episode III will make over $350 million.

I'm trying to locate the article online but EW has a extensive write up in this week's magazine about the state of the box office and the great white hope known as Sith.

Week ending May 1st is 2005's 10th straight drop-off in weekend box office
Year to date ticket sales are down 6%
Longest losing streak since 11 bad weekends in 2000
Third straight year that fewer people are going to the movies.

A lot is riding on Sith.

Guys, xXx: State of the Union didn't exactly bomb overseas, either. Sure, Kingdom of Heaven will be huge overseas, but xXx: State of the Union is making a little bit overseas. That's still considered a bomb.

Thats very horrible for KOH,I knew it would never make 100 million here but I didnt think it will bomb as badly as Alexander. I guess that would probably be the final nail in the coffin for historical epics #-o . What a bad streak for epics lately first Troy underperformed and then King Arthur,Alexander, and KOH all flopped in the US. Well at least KOH will do well overseas.

Please don't compare any movie to Alexander, no movie deserves that kind of punishment. [-X Even with Alexander being the worst movie in the last 20 years, it still made over 125 mil internationally to go along with its pathetic 35 mil domestic gross to give it a decent worldwide total. KOH will have a higher domestic gross which should put it around 200 mil worldwide.
