It's up:

Agree? Disagree? Think I'm going too high or low on the openers?
Discuss.

Quote: Overall, I expect "The Interpreter" to mimic "Man on Fire's" run and reach a final gross in the vicinity of $78 million.
I agree with that.

Sounds good to me.. 67 Million or so for Amityville Horror is very successful and Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes are doing backflips and flipping everyone the bird(pardon the pun) for going ahead with a remake of the Hitchcock Classic "The Birds".. Bravo.. =D>

Yeah, hats off to them, and once again, WOW at Sahara. It's on course to have the second multiplier of the year thusfar (maybe third, depends whether or not you count the 2.8 million The Upside of Anger made before going wide, which I don't especially considering that makes the multiplier .7 higher then it'd be otherwise which is rather unfair).

Ooooh, $67M for AMITYVILLE sounds awesome.
However, May 6th, i fear from then on it's going to have alot of 50-60% plunges due to direct competition from HOUSE OF WAX.

Good summary - I think I agree with everything. because I can't say which total gross seems to be right or wrong. Now its summer time and I really don't know how good the legs of Sahara, Amityville and Kung Fu Hustle will be the next few weeks...

I just have absolutely no desire to see HOUSE OF WAX.. The trailers did nothing for me and Paris Hilton is a bitch..

If I were the killer in this House of Wax, I'd bang Paris first and foremost before whacking her.. :yikes:

I agree on all, with the slight exception of Sahara which I expect to plunge 50-55% this weekend due to direct competition from two , what you can call "big movies". I think it'll barely cross $65 million.

All the way from ~30% drops to 50%+ drops? Hitchhikers might provide some competition, but I don't think xXx 2 will. Sahara is attracting older audiences while xXx 2 will largely get teens. The Interpreter was more direct competition.

What about loss of theatres?

Yeah, that will certainly begin to affect it which is why I'm pretty certain it won't top 75m. However, as of now there are many other films to take theaters from with lower PTAs, so it shouldn't lose too many this week.
