Post Kung Fu Hustle will have long legs in the US
I saw twice from different cinemas yesterday, one at 7pm and the other at 9:30pm. Judging from the extremely positive reaction of the audience during the movie and the clapping and discussion of the audience and big "Wow" type of reaction at the end of the movie, I think Kung Fu Hustle will have long legs in the US.

Anybody agrees with me?

The audience reaction has been very positive. However, the key will be how well it is able to hold up next weekend. Because its PTA is only at $3000 range at best this weekend, I can imagine theaters will already plan to reduce Kung Fu Hustle's screen count to 1 if they are double-booking it now and maybe move it from the 500-600 seat to 200-300 seat ones. If under those circumstances, it can still manage to have a superb hold of 20-25% drop next weekend, it will mean most of those screens are selling out, and it can help to convince theater owners to keep them after two weeks. If it suffers a 30-40% drop, then it will risk to lose 500 theaters at the third week because the PTA simply won't justify keeping it with the big summer movies coming up, and it won't have opportunity to demonstrate any legs.

I'm hoping people will be spreading their positive words because I truly believe this is a film that almost everyone will find enjoyable.
