I'm actually kind of surprised that The Interpreter didn't have more showtimes.
Movietickets.com is reporting it to be 90 minutes long, which I think is probably false. If it were true, it'd have more than 8 shows.

The interpreter is 90 minutes long.
At Scott's theater, each of the 4 wide releases gets 2 screens, and The Game of Their Lives is getting one.

My theater has 4 showings each day this weekend for THE INTERPRETER and 5 each for KUNG-FU HUSTLE, KING'S RANSOM, and A LOT LIKE LOVE.
The only movie that will be on more than one screen is THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, which has two.
Here are the number of showtime's each movie has at my theater:
~10~
THE AMITYVILLE HORROR
~5~
KUNG-FU HUSTLE A LOT LIKE LOVE KING'S RANSOM GUESS WHO FEVER PITCH THE PACIFIER ROBOTS MISS CONGENIALITY 2
~4~
MILLION DOLLAR BABY THE INTERPRETER SIN CITY HITCH THE RING TWO SAHARA THE UPSIDE OF ANGER
~3~
ICE PRINCESS
~2~
HOSTAGE
INTERPRETER is over 2 hours long. Yahoo Movies has the wrong running time listed. That makes sense since my theater only has 4 showings for it and the rest of the new movies got 5.

If The Interpreter is over 2 hours long, then Scott's theater is having 3 screens for it since it has a showing at each hour.

I think it is over 2 hours. Because that 90 minutes does not include 15 minute preview, and 15 minutes is too short of a trunaround for us. So 3 screens is correct.

I'm pretty sure Interpreter is 128 minutes without anything on it. I think that's what I saw on our sheet at work.

That sounds right. IMDB has the running time in Australia at 128 mins and my local theatre in New Zealand has 128 mins on the website. Unless they edit it for the US release for some reason, 128 will be correct.

I'm surprised Interpreter is getting so many screens. It doesn't seem like a "big screen count" type of film.
I'm also surprised by all the double bookings of Kung Fu Hustle. I smell a really bad PTA coming. I just don't see who this film appeals to that can actually see it in theaters. The tv spots seems to be playing it off as a family film, but it's rated R. The rating is alienating the audience it's trying to get, and the marketing is alienating the only audience that cares about it. With that said, I still hope to see it this weekend if i'm not too busy.

Maybe because Amityville is really doing well and most audiences would consider seeing it more than once.. That's why I think it's showing like it is at your theatre.. They were saying on Howard Stern's Radio Show this morning that Amityville did open up very well in New York and in droves.. I'd see it again even though I saw it 3 times already.. Maybe it's because I had different expectations than alot of the people who complained about it, you know?? Stuff like not being accurate enough to the novel and whatnot.. I knew it wouldn't be cause no movie adaptation ever is and it was sure better than any horror movie we've seen in a long time..

And why would anyone care about accuracy? It's based on a "true" novel that's based on a hoax.

Interesting that A Lot Like Love is the first one among new openers to crack moviefone's top 5 list.

I think you're underestimating the public. This has a ton of appeal to tons of demographics, I've heard high schoolers, college-goers, young and old adults all say they thought it looked really funny, and the amazing reviews (essentially the best of the year for a movie getting over 2000 screens) should spark tons of curiosity. Let's not let our cynicsm completely over-run what's looking to be one of the biggest foreign language hits in a loong time.

No, it's not based on a hoax and has never been proven to be either way.. Once again, watch the documentaries and anyone can tell that both George and Kathy Lutz were very sincere in their account and you could tell it wasn't fixed in that they took their time thinking about the question and not rushing and just giving any old reply to them.. It boils down to this: I'll give George Lutz the brunt of criticism for not shopping around for a better attorney before trusting any old shiester when giving an account of a story like this.. Once someone puts an extra added spin and adds to a story like the attorney and Hollywood did, it takes on a life of it's own and Fact becomes distorted from fiction and you don't know what's true and what isn't.. You don't leave a home just up and abruptly like they did without taking any clothes or food with them and leaving it all behind not to return.. When the psychics and TV crews went there, all of this stuff was still there untouched.. Wouldn't you at least take some food or clothing if you were just gonna abandon your home for no reason other than not being able to afford it??? You would at least take your belongings but they didn't.. They also morbidly slept in the Defeo's beds after they were murdered in them which is just gruesome to think about it, plus used there furntiure.. After a brutal and terrible tragedy like that withb6 people being shot to death in their sloeep, that's bound to give off some negative vibes and bad karma and I believe i this stuff and their story.. It happens more than you think, but you have to ask yourself this: If this story happened to you like it did them, would you be afraid to tell someone for fear of being mocked, laughed at and ridiculed?? I wold cause that's the type of world we live in where "Seeing is Believing"..

I've heard that the Lutz's have already come out and said it was a hoax so the whole "based on a true story" thing is pretty false. It's actually based on a book that is based on a story that was based on a lie .
