Re: Friday Numbers
It sounds like, when Nikki made that update, it was "passing" $80m. Which is insane. But we'll see.

Re: Friday Numbers
This may become the biggest weekend total gross ever, if HP opens to more than 159 and the rest of the top 12 make more than 100 million it will become the biggest weekend ever

anything above 85 would be amazing and I think it breaks the opening weekend record.

Re: Friday Numbers
Looking at mid to high 160s OW at this stage. It would be insane IF it somehow manages to double HP1 OW (180m OW) ten years later.

Re: Friday Numbers
Here is what I see if the opening day ends up in the $85-90m range:
Midnight - $43.5m Friday - $85-90m Friday w/o midnight - $41.5-46.5m Saturday - $39.5-$45m (3-5% drop from Friday w/o midnight) Sunday - $29.5-$37m (18-25% drop from Saturday)
Low end - $154m; High end - $172m

Re: Friday Numbers
Update from Nikki: Quote: FRIDAY 10 PM: 7TH UPDATE: As a Warner Bros exec tells me, "Unbelievable night!" Sources say Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2 will fly past $90M in the U.S. and Canada today (including that $43.5M from midnight showings) and even has an outside chance of reaching $100M. ("That would be really hard....but a huge West Coast result could get us close.") No matter, it still crushes the record for best single-day box office. Overseas, the franchise finale brought in $82.5M cume from 43 countries for Wednesday and Thursday. That makes fr a worldwide total take of at least $172.5M so far. Meanwhile, the only other major studio movie opening today is Disney's Winnie The Pooh toon, which is looking like $2.5M today for a projected $7M weekend. http://www.deadline.com/2011/07/final-h ... g-records/

Re: Friday Numbers
If this gets within 5 million, they'll push. The publicity they would get from 100 million in a single day would be massive.

Re: Friday Numbers
They will push it if this goes to 90m, no way they're gonna lose the chance to make it a 100m+ OD.

Re: Friday Numbers
I guess Disney expected spillover from Harry Potter by releasing Winnie the Pooh this weekend? It would be sad if that $2.5 million estimate is a result of Harry Potter spillover.

Re: Friday Numbers
This is just amazing. WOW. We all knew it has potential but by this much is humongous. And I don't think WB will push it past $100m it just crosses $90m, maybe after $95m.
