Re: Friday Numbers ($92.1m)
Looking at the Numbers, How does the BreakDown Look?
Midnight = 43.5 Million Friday Only = 48.6 Million Total = 92.1 Million
As 50 Million is usually one of the Top Numbers for any Single Day. So without Midnight, Would Friday have gone up much higher?
And on MidNight, that is amazing, as it is always as much as any single day!

Re: Friday Numbers ($92.1m)
Probably they meant something like 92-45-35 That would be 7% drop without midnights.

In-flippin-sane.
I still think a 50%+ fall today is almost certain (Friday admission aren't quite at the TDK/SM3 level where it'll just stay level on Saturday), so $170 million isn't even a given. The OW record, however, definitely is.
Excellent defying of expectations. Lovin' it.

Excellent defying of expectations. Lovin' it. Talking about the drop, shouldn't it be against Friday's Daily Number only...to make it fairer to Saturday. At least here, for better comparision. Midnight = 43.5 Million Friday Only = 48.6 Million Total = 92.1 Million

Re: Friday Numbers ($92.1m)
Does this mean that all holdovers + Pooh will have slightly more favorable drops on Sunday than usual? If Harry Potter saturated the market so bad today, then more screens will be given to the holdovers as demand wears off, right?

No theater owner in his right mind will give a screen to another movie this weekend...

BO expects 17.8 mln for Horrible Bosses with 37% drop. I think it's quite good for such a weekend.

This opening is just as incredible as the first film's was in 2001, if not more so.

A decade is a long time in box office hey. I sure under-predicted this. Still I think from here anything from $160-$180m is possible, it will drop reasonably hard saturday.

Re: Friday Numbers ($92.1m)
^ That would be a very strong hold for Horrible Bosses and solid for Winnie the Pooh, if their projections are actually in line with Friday numbers.

Re: Friday Numbers ($92.1m)
I mean this is mind boggling. It would of been even more amazing if it had hit that $100M that was hinted at earlier yesterday.
So it made $48.6M yesterday then with midnights taken out. So I think we're looking at...
Friday- $92.1M Saturday- $44.71M (-51.5%, -8% minus midnights) Sunday- $40.24M (-10%) Weekend- $177.05M ($40,469 PTA)

This makes the number more impressive. Quote: #Potter fans choosing 2D over 3D conversion. Only about 43% of HP8 FRI gross came from 3D screens. https://twitter.com/giteshpandya

HP7.1 and New Moon, the only movies that really seem somewhat comparable, each dropped about 35% on sunday, why would this only drop 10%?

But this isn't dropping 10%. TDK pulled it off because of the insane demand that was still going on Saturday, which this isn't going to match at all. It's dropping at least 15%, I think.
