Black Swan (INTL) $213.7m and counting...
This weekend BLACK SWAN starts its international run with openings in Germany, UK, Australia, Poland and other (smaller) markets.
Judging by first day sales, BS will easily be No. 1 in Germany with about 250,000 admissions (conservative estimate), which translates into at least $2.5m...

In Poland OW above 30k adm and total over 120k adm will be a big success.

Re: Black Swan (INTL)
Expect it to hit big numbers all around Europe... THe USA gross is amazing, but it might make even more in Europe. Because the subject matter is an easier sell in most European countries, art-house audience is bigger, and the Oscar-hype is full-on.
I expect it to become a big hit here in Finland as well.

Re: Black Swan (INTL)
Director Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan made its overseas debut via 20th Century Fox at 1,064 screens in nine markets for $10.85 million, sufficient for a No. 4 weekend ranking. The vehicle for Golden Globe winner Natalie Portman as a ballerina in a death spiral opened No. 1 in Germany ($3 million from 306 screens), No. 2 in the U.K. ($4.2 million from 356 sites) and No. 3 in Australia ($2.6 million from 158 situations). http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/g ... intl-74759Very solid result in Germany and it will add 100 theaters next week...

Re: Black Swan (INTL)
Did it get to 300,000 admissions in Germany?
I think next weekend will see a sub-30% drop.

I think this will make $150+ million overseas.

Looks like BS will improve a little bit to about 300,000 admissions in its 2nd weekend in Germany...

Re: Black Swan (INTL)
Distribution in Poland sucks. The demand for the movie is way bigger then the number of copies available and distributor doesn't want to expand the movie ( morons!!!! )

Re: Black Swan (INTL)
That's really strange - the German opening in 306 theaters was much wider than movies of that kind usually open to, than it expanded by 90 theaters in its 2nd weekend and it will expand further in its 3rd weekend...
Edit: Final German BS gross will be at least $15m, maybe more...

Re: Black Swan (INTL) $29.1m and counting...
It's opening here in Holland this week, but it will only be on 40 screens. Wide releases usually get around 80-90, the only ones that get more are usually animated flicks that are shown in two languages, those are generally on 120-130 screens.
If it makes more than €150,000 I'll be pretty impressed.
Not that it really matters, since the Dutch don't spend much on going to the cinema, making Holland largely inconsequential.

I'm still thinking around $150-170 million overseas is the right number.
I am stunned at its performance in Germany. It'll outdo several of last year's blockbusters.

No signs of slowing down in Germany - after weekends of 267,382 and 283,409 third weekend could deliver another 250,000! BS will cross the 1m admissions mark on Sunday...

Its €8.992 weekend average was by far the highest of any release. It made €508.847 over its first week, with an average of €12.721. That's more than double the average of any other current release. It should be able to hold well as WOM spreads, maybe even enough to get it to like... 2 million, which would be hella impressive.

Looking at 175,000 admissions in its fourth weekend here. That's a drop around 30%.

Re: Black Swan (INTL) $48m and counting...
It opened for a screening of 2-3 theaters here in Singpaore. That was house-full so it is now being expanded here, a very surprising trend here but given that the Oscar season has just started it would do great here. Also that the release of NSA during VD will help Portman's reputation
