Re: South Korea boxoffice thread
After just 18 days ROARING CURRENTS (14m admissions) surpassed AVATAR (13.6m) to become the new all-time champ...
1 out of 4 South Koreans saw the movie already...
BTW, TITANIC had about 5m admissions - just amazing how this market has grown...

Re: South Korea boxoffice thread
It's the first SK film to pass $100 m USD. Big, big achievement for a country with a population of just 50 million.

# Films Week-end 2014.09.12 ~ 2014.09.14 Total 1 Tazza: The High Rollers 2 (타짜-신의 손) 2014/09/03 540 529 3 107 417 2 Begin Again 351 523 1 862 520 3 Into the Storm 225 121 1 887 517 4 Lucy 225 063 1 795 522 5 Pirates (해적: 바다로 간 산적) 2014/08/06 205 439 8 362 217 6 My Brilliant Life (두근두근 내 인생) 2014/09/03 194 269 1 481 136 7 Step Up: All In 95 684 491 460 8 The Admiral: Roaring Currents (명량-회오리바다) 2014/07/30 71 115 17 517 516 9 Maya the Bee 3D 50 554 212 313 10 Sin City: A Dame to Kill For 45 246 60 396
Not weird taste, their own. Would you prefer a world where everybody watches the exact same movies? No, thanks...
The success of The admiral: Roaring currents, the biggest film of all time in South Korea (in $, in their local currency, and, most importantly, in tickets sold), which has stomped over The host and Avatar, is simply gigantic. A little more than 33% of the population has seen that movie.

Re: South Korea boxoffice thread
I wouldn't. But that doesn't change that South Korea has weird taste.

Seems like King Arthur is not getting a lot of love from Koreans as well.

Maybe all that text makes it a genius poster, but just visually it stinks.
