Post Re: Japan Box-Office: No Way Home - Sunday Admissions Tracki
Running largely as expected, a little above yesterday throughout the morning and afternoon, pretty common for Sunday business. We'll see how the evening/night goes. Sunday typically drops off in the evening, and I expect that will happen here, but with Monday being a holiday, some films can benefit a bit and remain pretty close to Saturday's stronger late business.

If someone can share the 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm updates here, I'd appreciate it again. But no biggie is not. I'll get them tomorrow and post the final update(s).

Russo Brothers: that's why called it "Endgame" while Sony called it "No Way Home" because it can not rise when it started to fall.

JJK Movie is also ahead of 2nd Sun. If Sun's evening goes well then, 3rd WK > 2nd WK while Mon will boosted it over ¥7.5B

Post Re: Japan Box-Office: No Way Home - Sunday Admissions Tracki
Sun is potentially quite strong for Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 then Sat

At the same time (usual location)
2nd Sun : 136,187
3rd Sun : 145,221 - Today
3rd Sat : 108,787 - Yesterday

For No Way Home: (at same time)
Yesterday : 171,366
Today : 184,601

However like Yesterday, NWH exceed 19:00 Total of Endgame (175,477) But still can not draw conclusion as I doubt where it will end today..

Great sunday. Spidey matched endgame and JJK increased 8%, though likely less in gross since losing almost all its IMAX screens will probably cause its atp to be lower. Overall solid holdovers in general too.

Thinking JJK will probably go more towards 12-13b now.

Post Re: Japan Box-Office: No Way Home - Sunday Admissions Tracki
Sunday was propped up a bit by Monday being a holiday, but regardless, great Sunday all-around indeed.

Spider-Man very slightly increasing over Saturday is very nice. Its first 3 days are all nearly identical. Endgame had very similar first 3 days too, but SM is even closer. All 3 days are within just 1,000/2,000 admissions of each other.

And JJK0 seeing a big increase over Sat, and even last Sunday. It did lose most of its IMAX shows, but the jump in admissions today is pretty high, that it probably countered this out. If it didn't increase this weekend, I'm expecting about 2/3%, it's a miniscule drop of just a couple percent.

This is a good example for any new members/lurkers on how films, regardless of size really, rarely impact one another. There's little/no audience overlapping in the market. Spider-Man just opened very near ¥1 billion (maybe hitting the mark), which is huge, yet all the holdovers held excellently, a couple possibly even increasing.

Some films *can* negatively impact others, it's just a pretty rare occurence and not a standard in Japan.

So this morning/afternoon, I'm going to post the update to the Jujutsu Kaisen Daily Tracker here very soon.

Then, I'll wait until Sunday is fully over and update the Sunday data for Spider-Man, followed by an estimate for its opening weekend, and finally where that opening weekend places it on various charts (such as Biggest Jan. Opening Weekends, Biggest Marvel/MC Opening Weekends, etc.).

01/08 (Sat.): ¥290,000,000 ($2.50 million) / 210,000 *est.*
01/09 (Sun.): ¥355,000,000 ($3.06 million) / 260,000 *est.*

17-Day Total: ~¥7,443,064,090 ($68.25 million) / 5,464,027 *est.*

Very, very impressive third weekend, as mentioned over the weekend. If either saw a very miniscule decline (likely under 5%), or may have even experienced an increase (again, probably under 5%).

As a result, its total continues to track above all but one film after 3 weeks, and is only the third film to be above ¥7 billion at this point. Now, this is clearly massive, and if not for Demon Slayer last year, it'd be claiming a lot of records. And while not as impressive as DS, of course, it's equally as impressive in managing to beat every other film before it.

So lots of good news, the "bad news" is that after tomorrow, this is where it'll start to fall behind the films that went on to become the biggest/some of the biggest ever in the market (such as Spirited Away and Howl). And that's fine. It got to where it needed to be after week 3 so we can call ¥10 billion a lock, I believe, just in case it would begin to drop-off hard.

And ¥10 billion is never an easy mark to reach for anything. It remains the biggest milestone to aim for after 15-20 years. And JJK0 should finish a fair bit above ¥10 billion too, perhaps around ¥11/12 billion, but we'll need to see how it holds post-holidays (which most of its run has consisted of up to this point). Also, when you get to ¥10 billion, anything you add afterwards is significantly more impressive than it was before getting to the mark. For example, a film reaching ¥10.5 billion after hitting ¥10 billion is WAY more impressive than a film getting to ¥5.5 billion after hitting ¥5 billion. It's another ¥500 million in both cases, but that ¥500 million is many, many times more difficult to earn when above ¥10 billion.

Looks good. I'll have very similar numbers. It's going to be "annoyingly" close to ¥1 billion for the 2-day and ¥1.5 billion for the 3-day, but just because it probably ended up just shy of both marks doesn't really mean a thing. It's a huge, huge start. It may end up outgrossing both of its predecessors combined.
