none of those in the list i think are capable of breaking the record, but if i have to pick one, ill go with Star Wars Episode III |

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 has the best shot, from that list, as long as it's released 3-day. |

It could very well be spidey 3 also. I put HP4 there so people wouldnt ask, and War of Worlds, for the same. |

Shrek 3 will. The others don't have a good chance, except maybe for POTC 2, and perhaps Indiana Jones 4. |

Well, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 is a lock to break it! It will open on July 7th (=Friday) and will make about 120-125m on its weekend! It will also break the Opening Day of Spidey 2 easily! Mark my words! :razz: |

Im not so sure about Pirates - it has to be one of the most forgotten $300m+ hits. Most people i know didnt even like it all that much. But its BO run indicated it had good WOM so it will open big but not Spidey big. |

Ah..this thread. It's humourous how every so often the same sort of thread appears, it's either "what will beat Titanic? or Spider-man? or Shrek 2's record?".....its getting tiresome. Think of some original idea's people, OR Impact stop making this thread over and over again. 
A movie that we do not know about yet will beat SM's record. |

Problem is that all the films that could've beaten the record opened on five days. I bet War of the Worlds would've had a shot if it opened on a three day. Batman will be big, but not 114 million big. Right now I'd say that if Pirates opened on a Friday, it would be the film to do it. |

I see no reason why would Pirates 2 open that big as some of you are saying. And those that voted for it. Think around $70m would be it's gross if opens on friday. As for record breaking, none of those listed would break it. |
