Post Re: The New Movie Release Date Schedule
I thought Avengers is already releasing on the same day.

anyway chances of batman 3 in 2011 are very slim. Nolan's inception is releasing only next summer. I doubt he can make batman 3 within an year after that.

I hope nolan is on board and batman 3 comes out in 2012.

Great date for Deathly Hallows Part 2 which must mean that Avengers has to move now (if it is even coming out in '11 still).

As I said before Marvel would be crazy to release Avengers so fast. I see it coming out May 2012 right now.

If July 15th is right for Potter 8, it's MUCH better than May where I'm 90% certain it would have died after it opened.

July was getting too crowded with Captain America and Spiderman 4. I rather see it in July where it has the weekdays.

AH!!! I love days when we get a bunch of announcements! Thoughts:

-WB is pretty much saying "STFU" to Marvel. And that's awesome. One of them is going to move up two weeks to July 1st. My money is on Avengers moving. It has more mainstream appeal, and thus the July 4th would benefit it more.

-Sherlock Holmes moving is a good idea as long as Avatar acts more like KK than LOTR. But if Avatar is LOTR, then its a bad move.

-Inception gets a prime-time release date. If Nolan is succuessful with that, I think we could legit start talking about him being this generations Speilberg in terms of succuess in blockbusters (both in BO/quality).

-Clash of Titans will be a spring tentpole like 10,000 B.C. I expect it'll probably do those numbers

-Jonah Hex gets a good spot. Unless G.I. Joe bombs, that's a good spot

-Green Lantern. YES!!! Holiday superhero!!! Excel has been waiting for this for so long.

Oh, and Batman aint coming in 2011 for sure. Summer 2012 for sure (I'm betting on July 4th, 2012).

I think Avengers should come 2012 myself. They are stupid releasing that and Captain America in the same year.

Wow - ok alot has been anounced today.

Good release date for HP8. I think Avengers has to simply move to the July 4th weekend and we'll have an amped up 2007 (Transformers/Pheonix).

Looks almost certain that Batman moves to 2012.

I like the release date for Green Lantern. Its being filmed here in Oz and at an airshow nearby in March. Maybe i should go have a look. When was the last major Superhero at Christmas time?? Superman in 1978??

Good Move for Sherlock Holmes. November is too crowded and December needs an alternative to Avatar. There will be room for both. Though they may have moved it because they needed more time due to current re-shoots.

Fantastic release date for Jonah Hex. B Grade superheroes fit perfectly in August.

Inceptions sounds very interesting. Has a great release date but either it or Thor need to move a week or two.

Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch would be better off in March or August.

Clash of Titans seems closer to Troy/300 than 10,000-BC. Hope so anyway. Could be a medium sized hit.

2010 is sure shaping up now.

June 2010 looks to be huge. Prince of Persia should still be doing well as it only has 3 days in May, A-Team should do 100m+. TS3 I think has 350m+ potential, Green Hornet can be solid, and Twilight film only has one day in June but that alone will be 40m+ maybe even close to 45m.

You think TS3 could do 350m? That would make it Pixars most successful film to date. It'll definitely be huge but I'm not sure if TS has lost some steam or not.
How about this, will IM or TS3 win?

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

Iron Man 2 should win handily. $350m+ unless its bad.

I think TS4 is more likely to do $270-$320m. Shrek goes 4th will make similar.

Shrek 4 is a very odd case. While the third film dropped heavily from the last one, it still did quite well considering how bad it was, and it had to deal with two other $100 m + openers/$300 m + performers that month. It will adjust to $358.5 m next year, while Shrek 1 would be at $361.4 m. So the franchise's worst film still would be at nearly $360 m. Then there's the Shrek 2 bump up of 65% between film 1 and 2. That would adjust to $543 m by next year. With a range of $358.5 m to $543 m, even with lukewarm wom on #3, I think it still could pull a surprise and do $350 m +.

what is the record? I think about 90-100m could happen, around an Iron Man open. Although maybe more like 80m with strong legs considering it is winter and not summer.

I just don't see why there will be one. It's a trilogy.
Unless Pixar becomes Dreamworks 2.0 there won't be a 4th so no reason to say the 4th will do whatever. Rumour is they leave that Andy's house anyway so yeah.

Yeah December 2010 is looking great. If they get Meet the Little Fockers there too it will be a record month.
