TGM second weekend looks like 400k admissions - that's a 25 % drop (35 % including previews)

So TGM dropped just 23 % and more importantly, Sunday (helped by Monday holiday) was the biggest day yet...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
What's the reason for hot weather negatively impacting the box-office there? I feel you've been asked before but I forget. Is it the same for nearby countries?
Hot days often help the box-office in Japan since it's a way to cool down. And if it's rainy, as long as it's not like a major typhoon or something, that also helps the box-office by giving people a way to stay dry / spend time as it passes. The only sort of weather than really has a noticeable negative impact is major snowfall / severe cold since it hampers public transportation (trains) that so many use daily.
Central heating/cooling (or a duct-like system) isn't common in Japan outside of facilities like hospitals or large businesses. Most small stores, apartment units, houses, etc., have individual heating/cooling units in select rooms where you're likely to spend most of your time (if in the bedroom, you're only heating/cooling that room) to heat/cool for energy efficiency and to save on electricity costs. (Why heat/cool 5+ rooms at the same time when you're only using 1 or 2 most of the day?) That could be something.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
If it's similar to the UK (which I think it is) then I think it's as simple as people would rather be outside enjoying the lovely weather than inside watching a movie, because nice weather doesn't happen often. Germany doesn't get humid heat like Japan, so there's no need to get inside to benefit from the air conditioning. You can be outside and find a shady spot to reduce heat exposure, but you're still out enjoying nature rather than being in a dark room.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Yeah, I always found that trend in European markets interesting since hot/sunny weather has no noticeable effect on box office in the US (perhaps you even have people liking the idea of being in an air conditioned room). We take our number of sunny summer days for granted, I suppose.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Germans are very outdoors activity people. As soon as there's sunshine, they go biking, hiking, for walks, into street cafes, swimming and most of all barbecueing...
And most of it is true even in winter. Even with freezing temperatures - as soon as the sun hits, people are outside...
And the thinking is: We can go to the movies some other day when it rains, but not today when there is such beautiful weather...

Weekend 26/22
http://www.insidekino.com/DTop10/22/DTop22JUN30.htmMINIONS 2 has a disappointing opening weekend (on the level of DM1)... A strong multiplier is needed... The first one had a multiplier of 7.4 which would translate into 3.34m admissions
