 Mindhunters Predictions
Predict what the film will gross (opening & total). The film opens May 13, 2005. I have my predictions up soon.

I am not going to waste my time, because it will just get postponed again.

Miramax has frequently moved this movie's release date, they even considered to send this movie direct-to-video(unlucky they can't ; they are contractually obligated to give this movie at least a token release)
.
Suspense thriller+ R-rated + mixed reviews (or mostly bad reviews) + three box office poisons (Renny Harlin+Val Kilmer + Christian Slater)= BOMB.
This movie is very similar to another Intermedia's R-rated bomb = Suspect Zero.

It will head straight to video because this is the 4th time I think they moved it again. Why bother with a movie that hasnt been released for 2 years

This movie won't be direct-to-video.
Miramax are contractually obligated to give this movie at least a token release. (Poor Miramax....)
This movie will be SUSPECT ZERO-like BOMB.

If thats the case, it will only be on 59 screens. Its the same amount of screens that Highwaymen had last year

I hope it does great because it's an excellent movie, but it won't. All this delaying is a bad sign.

It'll never come out.
Really, it won't.

If it keeps its current release date, it will probably open in 1500-2000 theaters. My predictions therefore are:
Opening: $5.1 million
Domestic Total: $22 million

That's a 4.3137254 multiplier!!!! It looks good, but I don't think it will reach a 4 multiplier, more likely a 3.

Summer weekdays should help, and it also will have the Memorial Day weekend. Still, revised total prediction is $15 million.

Now, this movie's release date is "uncertain".
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/02/23/busin ... igl3BRm7+g
The thriller "Mindhunters," which has been finished for two years and has been seen widely abroad, now has a scheduled release date in May, according to an assistant to the film's director, Renny Harlin. A Miramax executive said the picture, which stars Christian Slater and LL Cool J, was likely to be released, but that a precise date remained uncertain.

I'm glad Disney is dropping Miramax. They are some of the worst when it comes to releasing movies. Focus Features/Rogue Pictures are also quite bad.

Summer weekdays don't kick in until mid-June.

Sin City having the trailer will help....although the trailer wasn't all that hot.
I rekon it will be a modest $30M total hit however.

The trailer was there when I saw Cursed and Hostage both times. I think that they're actually releasing it now.
