PS: The music of this teaser is from Germany's erotic short movie "The Elephant Never Forgets".

Really? It will make $40 million, a sleeper.

this will become another cult classic in the way that "The Nightmare Before Christmas" did - and the Nightmare movie is much loved by gothic crowds - the amount of times i see the merchandise combined with dark makeup on people..

Anyway - it will definately attract fans of The Nightmare, probobly some halloween goers and then im pretty sure critics will be kind to it too. Should do very well.

I think it could pull in up to 50 million. I think it looks pretty good, but there is no way it will make 100 million. Sorry, but it's just too strange. Heh.

Top notch stop motion animation.
Expect a slow but impressive run.
Say: 11 million opening, 62 million total.

Only when hell freezes over will this have a multiplier slightly over 2.0.

Worst. Prediction. Ever.

Agreed.

If this film anything less than brilliant, I'll be killing you all.

Tim Burton has a huge underground fanbase, particularly evident when he does these darker projects. I think it'll attract a larger amount of people Halloween, being it Halloween and all, but the fanbase and good WOM will bush it into November with great legs.

An underground fanbase, eh? :P

Tim Burton/ Nightmare fans proudly display their affection for the film and the director with clothes, bags, toys, beanies etc etc. I think Nightmare must still be selling shitloads of merchandise.

Are you sure it's stop motion? The trailer looked like CGI mimicing the stop motion of Nightmare Before Xmas...

Also, just for historical context, Nightmare Before Xmas opened on 29 October 1993, with a weekend gross of $8.2 million and finished with just over $50 million - and that was a great movie!

...and don't underestimate Burton's fans - they pushed the pretty lame Big Fish to over $66 million...

I should also mention that it was the number one movie of that weekend.
