If pacifier can open to 30, then there is no reason to think that Robots with a MUCH larger ad campaign, better cast, and more buzz can't get 40.

The Pacifier gets excellent trailer reactions. Robots does not.

im going to post this here too:

i see no reason why Robots will do Under $40M, the Kids really dont care if it looks horrible or not funny at all, its a damn cartoon and even better its a CGI!!!!! the cast is amazing, although that really doesnt matter!
if Shark Tale did $40+ i see no reason why Robots will not (i actually think the Robots trailer is much better than Shark Tale's)

so my prediction is $47M Opening
Final gross- $167M

I have heard much more positive buzz around robots than pacifier.

Robots cereal bars, robots cereal, robots poptarts, robots EVERYTHING at walmart when I am stocking.

It is being advertised like crazy, and people seem to know about it as well. I think it will do in the low 40's

Whether YOU thought it was funny means nothing, though.

If you saw the trailer reactions (atleast the ones that I saw) for The Pacifier, you would instantly know it was going to be big.

Ice Age record, soon to be broken.

I agree. The Ring Two will beat the record of Ice Age.

Considering that Shark Tale was at around 35% this time before its release, this is great news.

I certainly expect this film to do at least $45 million over the weekend. Another CGI hit for sure.

Taking all things into account, including it's super theater count, $40 million seems to be more likely now. It's got a great 71% on Rotten Tomatoes, it's got 3,775 theater count, it's got the same release date that Ice Age had. The Pacifier will bring some competition, but it won't hurt it too much. I'll go with a Shark Tale PTA, and say...

Opening Weekend: $44.5 million
Total Gross: $155.7 million

I know I'll be regretting this on Saturday, and wishing I kept my $38-ish million prediction.

$58.6 million opening. $188 final

Why are people lowballing this so much? $35 million? In that amount of theaters? How many sub-$40 million openers have had over 3700 theaters.

I'm sad....Just a year ago 3700 theaters was a very rare thing...now it seems to be happening more and more to less significant films.

Interesting piece of information from The-Numbers:

Robots is the latest major studio release to also debut day and date on IMAX joining the likes of Polar Express and The Matrix Revolutions. Like those films there will probably be no separate box office data released for the film's IMAX performances. This is a real shame as IMAX is in need of the extra publicity that releasing such details would generate.
