Which movie will be the first released in 2005 to make $100M or more?

My vote goes to Hitch. Not only does it star Will Smith, it also has the double threat of being a romantic comedy around Valentine's Day.

it'll be Hitch, unless Coach Carter shows some amazing legs throughout January.

I'm also going with Hitch. Nothing this month will make $100 million, and Hitch is a Will Smith romantic comedy, being released on Valentine's Day weekend. This is the only sure thing for $100 million between now and March, in my opinion. Even if Constantine does make $100 million (I hope...), it won't get to $100 million before Hitch does.

i agree. hitch is definitley the first 100M grosser for 2005. if im not mistaken 50 first dates was last years.... and it debuted at about the same time?

same type of movie-romantic comedy...

Or, if one were to judge the quality of the movie based on promos (and I have), Mortal Kombat 3 featuring Elektra Reincarnated. IMO, no shot at $100M.

I'll join the choir here and put my money on Hitch (this here's a gamblin choir!). However, I wouldn't be surprised if it only ends up with $70-$90M. If that turns out to be the case, the first $100M-grosser of 2K5 might be Constantine or Be Cool (yeah, I'm dreamin...)

If Hitch can't make it (I think it will though), then The Pacifier will be the first.

I point out Daddy Day Care. Though Eddie Murphy is probably a bigger family draw than Vin Diesel will ever be, I still think it will be big.

It will be close, as I see The Pacifier making about $75 million to $105 million.

Yeah, the sad truth is that The Pacifier will probably make over $100 million. The trailer reactions have been great.

Doesn't The Pacifier come out in April? The Ring 2, which comes out March 18th the last time I checked, will be the first if Hitch fails to.

Elektra? If it's Elektra, I'll eat my shoes. And I want the movie to do well. I guess I'll go with Hitch.

For sure Hitch..

However Coach Carter I believe has a round about chance, Ive seen the movie already, and it is good. Plus we have had many many requests for the movie over the last few days... It might just do good in urban markets tho so my view of it might be skewed a tad

Coach Carter will perform somewhat like Friday Night Lights, but I think with weaker legs, seeing as I dont belive it will be as good as it. Hitch ( if it doesnt completely suck ) will be the first to 100mil.

Yeah I changed it, I thought Friday Night was great, just a matter of opinion. Friday went great with the movie goers. Basketball isnt a bigger sell then Football when it comes to movies, so I have no reason to belive it will do as good as Friday, plus Friday was somewhat of a hyped movie in the sports world, people at espn were raveing about it before it even came out
