Looks like the expansion didn't do House of Flying Daggers too well. :? It'll struggle to reach $15-20 million no, maybe not even that.

Horrible increase for Finding Neverland

Pretty good for the Aviator

Very good hold for the Life Aquatic

And Sideways increase even though it lost 51 theatres

Not good for The Incredibles. It looks like it will barely pass Monsters Inc. if it's lucky :?

Flight of the Phoenix killed all my predictions games :(

The Aviator's performance isn't good for a $100 million production.

The Sea Inside :(

It will probably end up a million over Monster's Inc, but won't pass Shrek.

Flight of the Phoenix also killed my prediction too.

The Sea Inside :(

Will see how well it can expand next weekend. I think that it will do pretty well.

With any luck this will be the weekend that stops Dennis Quaid from getting more roles that should have gone to someone better.

Generally disappointing weekend all-around.

The Sea Inside and Beyond the Sea both did very poorly in limited release, and The Aviator's PTA is somewhat disappointing for such a high-profile release.

Well, he wasn't that bad in The Rookie, was he? :)

Very bad weekend multiplier for Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events!

I'd be surprised if it passed $180 million now....

That's a good weekend for Lemony, but a bad multiplier. It won't pass $200 million.

Damn it, I predicted $28-29m for Lemony :x

Let's hope it falls below $30m when actuals come out.

Yeah let me rephrase -- hopefully it will stop him from getting roles that should have gone to someone more suited. He's not bad in small town dramas and things like that.

Is there any numbers for Million Dollar Baby?

Author:  El Maskado [ Sun Dec 19, 2004 1:46 pm ]
Post subject:

Jeesh, kind of low for the Aviator in limited release. Even Open Water had a higher per screen average than Aviator with the same number of screens and it only ended up with 30 million. Lets just say if you even double or triple Open Water's number, it would still end up less than 100 million dollars.

Spanglish was expected because of the poor reviews and Punch Drunk Love's past numbers

Author:  Dr. Lecter [ Sun Dec 19, 2004 1:49 pm ]
Post subject:

I'd dare to say that Open Water was more of a "hyped" movie than The Aviator if you know what I mean. It's not like Gangs of New York opened with a great PTA, yet it managed a great multiplier (despite worse reviews and worse buzz than The Aviator as well as despite going against TTT).
