The Grudge: How will it do?
I honestly think this may be a breakout hit. Next weekend, it could make roughly $28 million, only fall to $17 million for Halloween, and it could even gross around $105 million. I don't know though, that's just me. I started this because I want to know your take.

I think it will do very well. It has a ring vibe to it, it its time we have an actual scary movie.
I saw 95-110 total

I feel this one will do big. All the signs on the internet point to a great opening, and unlike Team America, this is PG-13, so the buzz and box office correlate better since people don't have to sneak into it.

It's going to do great. I'm expecting around $27 million this weekend, and a small drop on Halloween weekend to around $17 million. It'll probably finish with around $85-90 million.

Getting verrry good vibes from it.
An opening approaching The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (which netted about $28M opening weekend) would not surprise me.

looks like a "the ring" clone, so you know it will make a crapload. but it will probably be just as bad as the ring too, so i'll skip it. any film that is rated pg-13 and claims to be a horror movie usually stinks.

Why does a horror movie have to be rated R to be good? Is it because gore makes things scary or something?
I'd personally take The Ring's atmosphere over the likes of something like Jeepers Creepers' gore any day.

a truly good horror movie has good atmosphere and shocking visual images. the original dawn of the dead is a perfect example, as is the original Halloween. i find movies that rely solely on atmosphere like the ring to be very boring.

Horror movies don't have to be rated R, and audiences don't mind what it's rated either. This could be a breakout hit, and gross over $100 million, but I'll stay on the low side for the moment.
Opening- $22.8 million
Total- $68.4 million

I think this will do good. With the Forgotten fading, people are in the mood for a horror movie right now. And being released around Halloween will only increase the box office. And the PG-13 rating is a plus too, that means alot of teens.

Okay, since no random BOM user is here, here are my final predictions
Opening - 25.3 million
Closing - 72.1 million
I see a TCM multiplier for this.

With similar screens per theater to The Forgotten, I see a similar PTA as well. 21M opening weekend. 57M total.

I agree with Neo. This is a worthless movie.
For me two horrible movies in a row, Team America and The Grudge. Hopefully, Saw will cure that problem.

people and critics both comment that the film is very scary.
However, i must say, predictions made a big drop off from high to low 20s in this thread around the time that the major sites put their low 20s out.
Im adamant that the movie will do high 20s, the ring fanbase is all there for the taking, the ads have been great and plentiful, the SMG fanbase is there too with the buffy fans undoubtably there and its theater count is vast too.
If this grosses less than The Forgotten then shoot me in the foot
