not bad for Miss Congeniality, considering it was a thursday...
Intereseting that The Ring 2 jumped so much while everything else only had modest increases....

Except The Ring Two, which is the one film I didn't expect to get that high of a bump, Thursday increases are generally low for a Easter week. coinciding with spring break should have something to do with that. Still, that screwed up my holdover calculations.

DEAD on my prediction for MC2 on Thursday; if it continues on my prediction [where it had a $30.1m 4day, only $3.2m of which came from Thursday] then things are shaping up very well for Friday.
$20m seems a lock for the weekend anyway;

I actually believe 20M is certainly out of reach now. Films seldom increase more than 100% on Easter Friday. The best case is 6.5M Friday and 17M weekend, and the worst case is 5M Friday and 14M weekend.

Jesus Christ! The Ring Two increased that much?
That's okay for Miss Congeniality 2. It'll make around $15-17M for the weekend.

What about Johnson Family Vacation? That opened during the week and increased 153% on Easter Friday.

I'd argue that 1) JFV in April; 2) this is a sequal; 3) JFV was in a lot fewer theaters, and that means it was harder to find a theater nearby, and more people had to wait for the weekend to drive to one and see JFV.

That's EXACTLY what I expected for MC2. No surprises here. It seems to me it will go on to make about $15-17 million for the weekend now.
PEACE, Mike

Let's not get ahead of ourselves until the weekend is actually not in the future. Lots of stuff can happen.

I saw Ring 2 last night, Thursday, at around 8:10pm and there were no more than 10-12 people in the theatre!

The Ring Two just might make $100M yet. It's gonna fall 60% this weekend, but the daily grosses over Spring Break might push it pass the mark.
