Goldie, there is a prediction thread running already. Just focussing on one day grosses will not warrant.

If you could do a bit more with this thread (example add friday and sunday numbers in there as well, or ask about what other records it can break llike the november record and stuff, I'll let it stay)

Excuse me but I disagree. Dr Lecter has a prediction thread already and then he sets up a FRiday Opening day thread. I haven't looked to see if you gave him the same message.

That said, What is wrong with this as it goes up againist the TOP 20 OPENINGS OF ALL TIME. Getting that list on the board and the discussion about this Saturday, I think warrants a thread plus the poll gives the answers of everyones guess.

That is my case - Close or leave open. But please leave another message so I hear your answer.

Thank you.

Sorry ...

I looked around and did not find that thread from Lecter ... I guess I didn't look hard enough ....

In that case, I have no issues at all .. its still nicer to have more being talked about in a thread but you're more than welcome to keep this thread : )

Thanks but also, with or without Dr. Lecter's thread, I think this is a good thread that can be talked about until Sunday and Monday and then it will lose its importance and slide down past the other threads that pop up.

Guys, we can keep this open, but seriously, we don't need to have a thread for every freakin' day for this movie. Therefore, if anyone makes a thread for anything else related to predicting something for The Incredibles, it will be closed.

Thanks.

By the way, to answer the question, I think The Incredibles will get about $28-29 million on Saturday.

I think it'll gross a little under 30 million, maybe 29.5.

OK, I agree but I just wanted to do this one to see if it will break into the TOP 20.

I think yes with 33 to 35 million Saturday

I think Lecter's thread should he been made as the one "daily predictions" thread. One is all that's needed, and only for major films like this.

OK, thanks for the input.

Unfortunately, Lecter's 2 threads didn't cover this and I see the Saturday as potentally record setting.

As I thought above, they got this into alot more theaters, close to 4000, and with the 90%+ Rotten Tom early reviewed %, how high is possible for the 1st Saturday.

Is a 40 million possible now?

Looking at that Saturday for Shark's Tale as that and the Incredibles both had similar 4000 theaters, not sure about screens?

Shark Tale's # was $21,085,643.

Incredibles should be close to that on Friday

Okay, kids..I think we're getting a bit out of control here. Look at that list of biggest Saturdays ever and see what is the factor that ties them all together. They're all known properties or franchises...Spider-Man, HArry Potter, Shrek, The Matrix, X-Men, Star Wars...they were all sequels or popular characters from other mediums. While granted, The Incredibles is Pixar, a company with a successful track record, this is their first PG movie (don't underestimate that), it's 2 hours long (half hour longer than all their other flicks) and the subject matter is more appealing to guys than women (ie mothers and girls) plus it might not bring in the older audiences that Finding Nemo might have brought in between the fish and the voice cast. Taking that into consideration, I think an opening weekend of $75-76 million would be damn good...to think it could defeat Shrek 2 seems a bit optimistic to say the least.

I think it will make around $33 to 35 million on Saturday.

I agree Shrek's 45 is out of the question. And you 33 to 35 could place it as high as the 7th biggest single day ever. That in itself is pretty impressive.

I am still hoping for a kick ass number of 40+.

1 Shrek 2 $44,797,042 - SATURDAY
2 Spider-Man $43,622,264 - SATURDAY
3 Spider-Man 2 $40,442,604
4 Spider-Man $39,406,872
5 Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban $38,268,295
6 The Matrix Reloaded $37,508,303
7 Shrek 2 $34,900,541
8 The Return of the King $34,450,834
9 The Matrix Reloaded $34,389,237
10 Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets $34,213,803
11 Spider-Man 2 $33,748,257
12 Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Stone $33,512,941
13 The Passion of the Christ $33,077,939

Yeah, that's probably high too, but I think that it can do it considering that it's in 3900+ theatres. I'm not convinced this can make more than $75 million opening weekend though.

Everyone make sure you list your BO pick on this possible record setting Saturday before the Friday crowd reports and especially, Friday numbers come in.

Just picking this one day will show that you have bal?s and also how good you really are in BO predictions. This one day is probably harder than the general weekend pick.

So, list your predictions.

Adios, off to work or maybe the movies, instead.

I predict a big Sat. drop. This one was oviously frontloaded. I see a 18-18m Sat and a 10-11m Sunday. A 48m weekend methinks.

How do you figure that, Zach? How can it be frontloaded on a day where kids are in school for half of the showtimes? :?
