http://www.mtv.com/n..._medium=twitter TDKR footage at the MTV Movie Awards on June 3rd is confirmed. Chris Nolan is also introducing it. So after this I think we can comfortably say that awareness for this flick will be at a all time peak. The HYPE is coming.

I find the fact that so many newspaper articles are saying its such a feat for MIB3 to beat TA to be laughable.
Its the films 4th weekend lol..

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
Out of nowhere, just like that, I would like to point something out.... It was completely illogical for TDK to break the midnight record, the opening day record, and the OW record and to end up grossing more than every movie since Titanic. Batman Begins was a decent success. We all knew that its fanbase had grown between 2005 and 2008, but there was no reason to expect TDK to explode like that. BB was a dark and serious Batman movie, with no flashy CGI and with close to nothing to appeal to little boys. TDK was certainly going to be a much bigger success than BB, especially with the Joker in it, but TDK's explosion to such proportions came out of nowhere. Maybe TDKR will explode illogically too

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
Well of course TDKR won't rise as much as TDK did over Batman.
However all indications point to huge numbers. I think the only two things that could hurt it now is some sort of negative wom from crazy fans.
Or a lot of front loading...
I expect it to be front loaded, that's why I keep laughing at the daily projections that mimic TDK with better drops.
However it should do very well.
Cannot see a range for the opening weekend or a total yet really...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
It is definitely going to be more frontloaded than TDK, even it gets 45 Oscar nominations. For it to get a multiplier of 3 would be astonishing.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
Yeah that is why I keep look at some people predictions and start laughing.... I think one thing really stopping TDKR from going much behind TA opening weekend gross is that is will be weaker on Saturday like a 40% drop from Friday. Friday will be at most 20 million ahead of TA. The Saturday it will fall behind and Sunday is around even with TA at best. Its simple you go from 100 million to 60 million and it will something on Sunday to like 55 million. So I think for now TA Sat record is safe and Sunday is in some danger. Anyways this is the best I see it doing... The Saturday will be around a 40% drop, even with a 8-10% Sunday drop it still means Sat Sun will come in around 60 and 54 million each based on a 100 million opening day. 214 million so it needs to open around 95+ million on Friday to have any shot at beating TA opening record imo.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
I don't think $100M is the maximum it can make on Friday. I guess something disappointing like $82M is possible as well, but something like $110-115M is possible.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
Anything around 100 million would break the record for certain...
However I still do not think it will be that easy.
TDK is around a 74 million Friday...
That is going to be one hell of a jump...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
Spider-Man 3's opening day was 51% over SM1's. Star Wars Ep3's opening day was 66% above Episode 2's.
TDK wasn't very frontloaded. The WOM started spreading after its opening day. TDKR is the sequel to that movie, one of the best-received movies in the last 10 years and the hype has been growing for 4 years. And WB is marketing it as the end of the Batman legend..... we all know how much that can help movies explode over their predecessors (HP8, Star Wars 3, LotR3).

True but nothing is assured or guaranteed.
As of now, no sequel to an all time hit has increase from the film before.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
well what I meant as an all time hit I meant as biggest film in a long time and that what TDK was.
The biggest ticket seller in about a decade and then Avatar came..
Anyways point being TDKR should break records buts its going to have to be like TDK perfection to repeat all that insane wom and success.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
Long Range Forecast: 'The Dark Knight Rises'Featured Stories - on May 25, 2012 by BOXOFFICE Staff This week, we've added director Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises to our Long Range Forecast. The highly anticipated finale opens in IMAX and 2D theaters beginning at midnight Friday, July 20. The Dark Knight Rises PROS: - Christopher Nolan. - The sequel to (at one time) the second highest-grossing film of all-time. Just as sequels pay for the sins of their predecessors, they also reap the benefits of that which precedes them. - Prior to The Dark Knight, Batman had broken the opening weekend record three times (Batman, Batman Returns, and Batman Forever) -- twice without featuring The Joker. - Nolan is more a part of the "draw" than he was four years ago. The Dark Knight and Inception have cemented his status as a name that people in a general audience recognize and are interested in. - Despite the fanboy appeal of three of his last four films, every film ever directed by Nolan has at least tripled its opening weekend gross through superb word of mouth. In other words, front-loading has yet to be an issue for his work. - Marvel's The Avengers ticket sales without the 3D bump would equate to a roughly $180-185 million opening. With a mid-summer opening and undoubtedly bigger midnight sales, Rises may not break that film's dollar record (due to lacking any 3D price advantage) but could match or exceed it in actual ticket sales. - All footage screened so far has been very positively received. The fact that the film received its rating over three months in advance indicates that the powers-that-be are very happy with the final result. - With nearly an hour of IMAX footage (and playing in four times as many of those venues as The Dark Knight did), a long and healthy run in the format is in store. - Warner Bros. is successfully painting this as the end to a trilogy. As Fox did with the end of the Star Wars prequels and WB itself with Harry Potter last year, selling this as the conclusion to a story will be effective in the absence of a marketing powerhouse like that of The Joker. - Trilogy-capper comparisons: the grosses of Revenge of the Sith and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King adjust to $470 million and $487 million, respectively, when considering inflation -- and neither film had an IMAX boost. - Zero competition. *This* is the competition. - One of Nolan's fortes up to this point is concluding a story with a crowd-pleasing final act. If this is applied this to an entire film as part of a bigger arc, it could create yet another "water cooler" discussion topic familiar to most of his films. CONS: - Hype and the curse of the superhero three-quel. It has undone plenty of films in the past (Superman III, Batman Forever, X-Men: The Last Stand, Spider-Man 3) and the fan base will be particularly critical of decisions made in this final film. - Opening closer to the opening of the Olympics than The Dark Knight did in 2008 could be a factor that leads to more front-loading for Rises when compared to that film. - It is exceedingly difficult to out-perform a predecessor that sold more tickets than all but a handful of films in the last fifteen years. - The tragic circumstances surrounding Heath Ledger's death brought a lot of extra buzz to the predecessor. Rises won't have that, so how Nolan chooses to end his trilogy will be even more important for the box office performance after opening weekend. Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
That a nice prediction though 186/520 million. Maybe a bit higher in total gross though. Anyways about the opening record its going to be somewhat difficult still. TDK opening weekend was epic, but looking at the numbers TA performed much better over the weekend... Like really look at the numbers, its quite amazing the numbers TA pulled off... TDK had the epic 8.5% Sunday drop, but TA had a 14% Sat Drop and then 18% on Sunday. Friday to weekend multiplier is 2.58 vs 2.36.... I see around 2.15-2.2 for TDKR. So around a 94-97 million Friday to get the record. Now I do this assuming a 40% Sat drop and a 8% Sunday drop. So I think TDKR can do it, but its not going to be easy...
