 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
Moana passes $400M to become the 50th film ever to pass the benchmark domestically!
Moana 2 $4,700,000 -19% +13% $400,007,280
Considering schools aren't fully back until next Monday, should be able to make some decent money this week.

 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
I expect Moana 2 can be at around 427-428m by Sunday.
I think it finishes around 455m, below Frozen 2 despite a much bigger opening.

Monday #'s
1 Mufasa $7,689,599 +8.5% $120,877,258 2 Sonic $7,600,000 -24.4% $144,164,198 3 Wicked $4,751,815 +1.6% $429,282,210 4 Moana 2 $4,701,403 +13.4% $400,008,683 5 Nosferatu $4,393,985 $45,201,020 6 A Complete Unknown $2,450,133 $25,679,729 7 Babygirl $1,068,075 $8,406,060
Mufasa and Sonic still neck and neck! As are Moana/Wicken and now Noseratu. I think these dailies are so impressive Nosferatu is looking better and better for $120M+.

The home video release does seem to have hurt wicked as it’s falling below Moana and Nosferatu in daily grosses.

New Year's #'s
1 Mufasa $10.3M -30% $138.5M 2 Sonic 3 $8.95M -14% $160.4M 3 Moana 2 $5.1M +21% $409.2M 4 Nosferatu $4.96M -57% $53M 5 Wicked $4.63M -14% $437.6M 6 A Complete Unknown $3.1M -55% $31.7M 7 Babygirl $1.4M -8% $10.5M 8 Gladiator II $1.04M -31% $165.5M 9 Homestead $952K-20% $14.9M 10 The Fire Inside $592k -65% $5.6M 11 Kraven $475,000 -31% $22,395,125
Mufasa keeps chugging along. Wicked is starting to slip behind. Fire Inside looks to be the only outright flop of the holiday movies post Kraven.

Impressive how consistent Babygirl has been. Don't think it will get to $25m+ but decent run for an A24 film.

 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
So Mufasa could do $225M+ without having a single day over $15M and 12/13 days in the $7M-$13M range. Pretty good consistency.
The holidays are great because we just have 1 empty weekend then another long weekend with MLK to pad the box office grosses.
Moana's at $905,757,963. Can it reach $1B?

 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
Jan. 2nd #'s
1. MUFASA ($6.2M) -48.3% / $144.7M 2. SONIC 3 ($5.8M) -49.8% / $166.3M 3. MOANA 2 ($3.5M) -39.8% / $412.7M 4. NOSFERATU ($3.1M) -59.2% / $56.2M 5. WICKED ($3M) -56.5% / $440.6M 6. A COMPLETE UNKNOWN ($1.8M) -58.8% / $33.5M 7. BABYGIRL ($1M) -24.2% / $11.5M
-Homestead $423,925 -59% / $15.4M -Kraven the Hunter $300,000 -43%/ $22.7M
Starting to lose the holiday bump but still solid numbers, especially Moana and Babygirl. For the same dailies Jan. 2, 2020:
Jumanji: The Next Level $6,702,524 -40.1% $209,706,405 Frozen II $3,411,578 -38.4% $438,585,364
If Moana 2 follows Frozen for the rest of its run it's finishing with $449M. Wicked at $480M. If Mufasa follows Jumanji for the rest of its run it's finishing with $221M.

i think Wicked should pull back in front of Moana either this weekend or on Monday, less family audience will be available

 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
It would be really annoying if something like this happens:
Moana $990M worldwide Wicked $490M domestic
Red One is going to finish at $98M.
I wonder if this is linked to studios having to pay out bonuses if a film reaches a certain benchmark to talent involved. Sending movies to digital and streaming early could be one way to save $$$ but also still get that aura of the theatrical release. Let a movie just stay in theater until theaters themselves don't want it anymore because no one is showing up.
