Re: Predict The CinemaScore's For This Weekend's Openers
When it comes to most movies, anything below a B+ is a bad Cinema Score. I'm shocked at the low score for SpongeBob, it was so much fun.

Re: Predict The CinemaScore's For This Weekend's Openers
You have to remember the being people being polled are fans, not, say, jaded critics. They are people who said, "Whoa, a fantasy movie with Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, etc.? With lots of creatures and swordplay? I am there, opening day. Please, have my money." So, yes, they should be giving the film no lower than a B+.

Re: Predict The CinemaScore's For This Weekend's Openers
That's also a misconception. Not EVERY person is a fan. And to get a B-, that would mean it had to have received a few B+ or A grades to settle for that average, which I am utterly surprised about because the film is garbage.

It's cute when Algren doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

lol, The Dark Shape, the guy that never gets into any discussion because it'll highlight how much of a dumbass he is. You just stay within the safety of your short quips because really you have nothing of value to contribute. The only reason you're on this forum is to boast about what movie you saw before everyone else. You're a dickhead.

I will explain CinemaScore's grading system for you (and I will try not to use words with an excessive number of syllables). People who go to the movies tend to want to like those movies. We internet nerds like to nitpick the many, many films we see theatrically, but Joe Public only goes a few times a year and always wants to like what he/she sees. So if these people are only grading movies as "okay" or "pretty good," it really reflects poorly on the film. Anything less than a B+ is considered concerning by studios. (I just got called a dickhead by a misogynist!)

Re: Predict The CinemaScore's For This Weekend's Openers
But Joe Public that goes a few times a year does not attend opening day. So it's most likely a mixture of frequent and more critical moviegoers and the types you mention. This is my problem with people like you. You have these rules to judge things by, but you never look deeper. You take the rule and just ignorantly run with it.

Re: Predict The CinemaScore's For This Weekend's Openers
A report from a critic over at The Dissolve said that the reaction to the very end of Fifty Shades at her screening was a bit hostile (it's very abrupt), so I could see that poisoning the Cinemascore a bit.

It could. But so did The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Mockingjay and those had good CinemaScore ratings. Might be fine if people know there's more movies coming.

Re: Predict The CinemaScore's For This Weekend's Openers
CinemaScore for Fifty Shades was a C+. I'm pretty sure the lower CinemaScore is due to the huge cliffhanger of an ending. People were so pissed about it.
