The Dark Knight Rises can't be stopped. Don't forget the grandma's and grandpa's that will make this $700m on OD

Very similar to the Hunger Games advertising.

Whether TDKR opens to $200m or not, TA might have just beat it to it. That must sting a little, no?

Though if it does, it'll make Avengers look much less impressive without 3D and all, but it's not, so, hah.

I think it still does.
Though, not with the current advertising. I haven't seen a single spot or poster. What's up with that?

The TV campaign though will probably start around Memorial Day time. Should see a lot of spots during NBA Finals. TV ads will start before then. Inception's first ad was May 10th. TDK's was May 13th. I would expect TDKR's first ad to be around that same time.

Avengers just makes this club more fun. When was the last time we had two films battling it out over the OW record in the same summer? The Dark Knight will Rise.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of FUCK 3D
Just a reminder that Batman films have historically broken opening weekend records. It's, like, the thing they do.
I think it's really tough to tell right now, because the marketing campaign hasn't really kick started. But I wouldn't put it above Batman.
Also, the film basically has to match TDK's opening admissions. That's 22m, right. 22m at $9 a pop and it can put up a challenge.
And remember, btw, that TDK opened with the record despite having an insane amount of competition in the market: the other films made over $100m combined that weekend.

If its increase in ticket sales is the same as The Avengers over IM2 it would easily clear 230m.

I don't believe the average ticket price is accurate; and my feeling is it will increase over this summer.
