 Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
Got it. Maybe Congo (1995)? It made $81,022,101 and starred a gorilla.

 Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
I forgot Congo did so well! I'd say the book is a tech thriller, but the movie definitely focused more on the gorillas. So $81M is the mark to beat. That's not gonna be easy, but it's possible. I wouldn't count Life of Pi since But I suppose there's an argument to be made that something like Marley and Me is technically a creature feature even though its not horror.

 Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
I looked up Congo's adjusted #'s on The-Numbers and since Puss has passed it, it's in 666th place.
666 1995 Congo $170,798,797
It was #13 for the year but crazy how much some of these movies made with inflation.

CB $2,316,745 $27,230,135 PIB $$306,045 $173,953,545
Bigger Tuesday increase (+40%) than M3Gan (+35%).
PIB $26M away from $200M. Dailies are much lower but still not a lock to get there yet.

 Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
Problem with going back so far to inflate is nobody in 2023 would pay $20 to see Congo. Inflated numbers only really work for a rolling ten year period.

 Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
$20 in 2023 would be like $10 in 1995. Average movie ticket price is still about $10-11 nationwide, which would be right in line with inflation. National Average movie ticket price in 1995 was $5, so probably $7-8 in deluxe markets like NY /La. In the scheme of things, movie ticket price inflation has not that far outstripped regular inflation.

 Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
Initial Wed estimates from ER have CB beating Ant Man that day with both about $1.5M. Will be close.
