Re: The Blind Side - Top 10 biggest 8th weekend as well?!
I think top 10 8th wknd will happen, nfl playoffs in full gear, college wrapping it up a sub 30% drop would not be surprising.

Seeing the record I guess Top 10 8th weekend is broken for sure. But the real thing is how much far in Top 10 will it go.
Simply amazing!!

I'm not surprised this movie is exploding.
You get the women into the theater, because its a family drama/has Sandra Bullock
You get the men in the theater, because its football season, its a true football story.
Bam Instant success.

Re: The Blind Side - Top 10 biggest 8th weekend as well?!
Looking at those "Top Grossing Movies in Their #th Week" charts really, really, really shows just how impressive Blind Side's run is.
For the 7th weekend, the only films since Titanic that made it into the Top 10 were the very leggy Sixth Sense, Harry Potter which had a) a bigger start and b) a new year's boost like Blind Side did, MBFGW which had a much slower build up, and a Easter boosted Passion of the Christ.
If it makes the top 10 next weekend (and it almost definitely will), Titanic, Sixth Sense, MBFGW There's Something About Mary (slower start, leggy run, holiday boost) will be the only ones since 1994 that are in the top 10.
Easily the best run of the year, and an actual candidate for best run of the decade depending on how far it goes.

I think it'll get into the Top 10 for the eight weekend but no chance at all for the 9th.

Re: The Blind Side Box-Office Thread
I'm pushing my expectations for this now to $260 m +. The Ravens are doing quite well and this film hasn't even really seen an awards bump up yet. It probably could have done $250 m even without an Oscar nod, as its headed around that total anyhow.
A weak film slate is helping it out immensely as well. I do wonder what type of bump up this will get though, from an Oscar nod. It's already huge.

Re: The Blind Side Box-Office Thread
Yeah, $260 is now the new minimum. Critics' Choice and very likely a Golden Globe for Sandra this weekend will result for a great week ahead plus a great hold next weekend. SAG and Oscar will only keep this little engine going...
Finally saw the movie last night and it deserves every single penny it makes. I even enjoyed the football parts! lol

Re: The Blind Side Box-Office Thread
I dunno...even the Best Actor Oscar for Sean Penn hasn't helped Milk that much (and that was not a film that already has been seen by masses).

Re: The Blind Side Box-Office Thread
I think with the legs it is has shown a lot of people would have already seen it by now. It has to start decline now specially from the Top10 or Top12 maybe. It will still make 260M or some thing near that amount which is simply amazing!!

It is starting to lose quite a bunch of theatres now, hmm. I don't see more than $250 million happening.

Walk the Line, however, won three Golden Globes, was nominated for five Oscars and was widely expected to get a Best Picture nom too until it, well, didn't get it.
The Blind Side has a chance at one award nom and one only. Not to say "I told you so, but..." To be fair, though, I never said that it would be nominated for BEST PICTURE. THE BLIND SIDE has been nominated for BEST PICTURE at the Oscars, and Sandra Bullock is nominated for Best Actress.

Oh my, oh my.
It's definitely making $265+ million now.
I wonder what its shot is at passing The Hangover's total.

Re: The Blind Side Box-Office Thread
So how many weeks can The Blind Side stay in the top 12, 15 and top 20?
It's had 11 weeks in the top 11.
It has a best picture and best actress nod now, with what looks like a best actress win. The weekend after the Oscars is 6 weekends from now. If The Blind Side stays in the top 15 until then, it will have seen 17 WEEKS there.
How long do you think The Blind Side can remain in the top 15? Can it really get 17 weeks there? There are only 8 February openers (non-expanders) so there's certainly room for it to stay around...

Hmm, I'm surprised it didn't add any theatres this weekend, but it'll probably add some next.

Re: The Blind Side Box-Office Thread
It had a good hold considering it didn't add any theatres and was affected by the Super Bowl. I expect a 20% rise over the four-day weekend and then a solid play into March. It should reexpand to 1,200+ theatres once it wins Best Actress. Then around $262-265 million will happen, but probably not much more.

Re: The Blind Side Box-Office Thread
It now spent its 13th week in the Top 12. That's longer than The Hangover or The Dark Knight stayed in the Top 12. Currently, it is #57 on the domestic al-time list, but if it wins Best Actress (which I think will happen), it should enter the Top 50 and maybe even surpass Star Trek.
I'm still not sold on $260 million, though. It will simply be losing theatres too fast.

Re: The Blind Side Box-Office Thread
Actually there aren't many wide releases in the coming weekends even including Alice which will take hold majorly 3D screens and thus I think so it has chance to do well till post-Oscars sometime by the end of March. This all will be true if it magically wins and stays close to that Top 12 in the coming weekends. I see that the next weekend will have Edge, Rome, Paris fall hard and thus it can still stay in the Top 12 next week as well

Re: The Blind Side Box-Office Thread
With the DVD coming out soon and the movie losing theatres, I don't think it will hit $260 million. It is, however, interesting to see whether it can beat Star Trek. I think it will, even if only barely.
Its opening-to-total multiplier is currently at 7.25 and should be above 7.5 by the end of its run. Which certainly warrants a "HOLY SHIT"

Re: The Blind Side Box-Office Thread
Amazing amazing run. What a surprise run. Its one of the rare times I had no idea what the film was about until its OW. So for it to do so well sure was a shock.
BTW - it opened here last weekend and performed dismally - the equal of a sub $5m OW in NA!
