I don't see why it will open much higher than or have a lot more staying power than Dawn of the Dead. Halloween seriously helped TCM's multiplier, and I don't see what gears this thing to have a larger opening than it.

This will have a Dawn of the Dead multiplier. No Halloween = bad legs for horror films. Plus, this won't gross a lot due to the R-rating.

Seen the first UK Tv Spot.

Quite effective, but not a patch on the full trailer.

The R-Rating if anything is gonna help this movie ALOT due largely in part to the last 3 piss poor watered down PG-13 Horror movies and folks are craving a damn good R-Rated Horror and also this is Unsolved Myth or Mystery is quite well known... Also, Dawn of the Dead is not based on a famous case like this... I mean hell, I'm watching an episode of the Simpson's and they parody the house and the Jackolantern eyes which tells you something... For a horror movie, this will be bigger than usual...

Every horror film released this year has blown, yet they have all done well. Amityville looks more interesting than all of them. Count me in the group who has been waiting for a serious horror film to make it's arrival again.

Then again, I thought the TCM remake looked interesting and was let down. We shall see.

The only remote comparison(and it's slim) to the TCM Remake is the police footage.. THAT'S IT.. TCM went for the Cannabalism story with buckets of Goop and Gore that 1 could only stomach so much of upon viewing the movie VS A Good Old Fashioned Haunted House that has remained an Unsolved Myth or Mystery for 25 Years now based on fact as well.. I watch that full trailer again and see him watching that home video and Defeo's face turning into a skull with sunken dark eyes walking toward the camera and that just looked creepy as hell.. 3 more weeks to go.. =D>

Amityville also has:

The same studio behind it.
The same producer.
An extremely similar trailer.
Similar tv spots.
Similar website.

So yeah.....more than one slim comparison.

But i LOVED tcm remake, so hopefully AMITYVILLE can hold up well against it.

But separate when it comes to story, facts and popularity.. Also, 1 thing I would love to point out while I was hashing it out with the PURISTS over at the Official Amityville site: Why would the Lutz's leave all there food in the refrigerator, all there clothes behind and personal belongings never to return if this were a hoax?? :-k Something happened to this family and I believe they experienced something..

The original doesn't have a bigger amount of popularity than THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE original did.

That movie has like one of the biggest followings.
