Pokemon's opening 5-day gross:
Wednesday - $10,096,848
Thursday - $9,620,578
Friday - $9,070,000
Saturday - $13,060,000
Sunday - $8,974,000
So it doesn't look too bright for Polar Express. Most other films increased 90-105% Thursday-to-Friday.

xiayun wrote: DP07 wrote: Well, I'm a bit nervous about it, but it will still have great numbers over the next two days. Wednesday is a bit hard to predict. I wish I had the exact daily numbers for Pokemon. Still with Veterans day coming up it should increase quite a bit. I'll go with 6.2m for Wednesday leading up to 12m, maybe 15m Thursday. ![:) :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif) Here are the daily numbers back in 1999, when Veteran Day last time fell on a Thursday: Nov 9, 1999 (Tue)Nov 10, 1999(Wed)Nov 11, 1999(Thu)Wednesday's jumps ranged from 10 to 50%, roughly.
I think it is important to note that only two films got close to dropping 80% on that Monday, The Bachelor (nearly 78%) and Superstar (over 79%). They then turned out to be the two with the largest increases on Wednesday. 54% for The Bachelor and 85% for Superstar. It stands to reason that the films that have the lowest numbers on Monday and Tuesday will increase the most into a holiday just as those films usually have the largest increases on Friday and Saturday. The Monday drop for The Incredibles was even greater then it was for either of those films. So, I think it will likely have a greater increase then Superstar, and even if it doesn't, it should increase nearly as much. Therefore, I'm predicting an increase of nearly 100%, although I think it might gross over 7m.

Don't forget that on Thursday is Veterans Day and therefore schools are closed, so movies should all increase somewhat on Wednesday.
Here is my prediction:
$4.51 million

I'm disappointed in general with most of the Wednesday increases. The Incredibles ended up being at the very low end of what I expected. In any case, many family films have increased 100%+ on Veterans Day, such as Brother Bear, and Antz even increased over 200%, so I'm going to go with 12.2m for Thursday.

agreed  a 160%-180% increase sounds right I see you went right down the middle with a 170% increase 8) Ill go with the 180% increase 8)
So BJs thursday prediction is 12.60m

I expected such an increase for Wednesday. I went back and took a look at Antz and noticed that it didn't increase much on the day before Veterans day. ![:) :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)

Predict The Incredibles' Thursday!
I expct a big increase for both, The Incredibles and The Polar Express, but it won't be as huge as you are predicting, guys. Take a look at Elf, it increased by just 51% on Veteran's Day.
My prediction:
$8.69 million

That's because Veterans Day was a Monday for Elf. So, I'm sure many schools had off all the way through Tuesday. The Monday numbers were higher. 8.6m would only be about 12% of last weekend. That's very weak. Elf was at about 18% on Veterans Day.

CONGRATS DP07!!
This is the part OI don't understand. Why did Elf increase by "only" 51% while The Incredibles pulled off 144%? Can you explain? :?

I think it had to do with many schools being out on the day before Veterans Day last year. This year VD was a Thursday, so schools were in from Monday to Wednesday. However, since VD was Tuesday last year, many schools were probably out from Saturday to Tuesday. As a result, there was less room for the numbers to increase for Elf since so many kids didn't have school the day before.

Predict The Incredibles' SATURDAY!!!
I xpect an increase smaller thsan Monsters Inc.'s, mostly because it will get more competition from The Polar Express which is more of a kiddie movie than The Incredibles and should provide more competition on Saturday.
I predict:
$23.8 million
